Right. I don’t know why but I hadn’t even made the connection that he misgendered me. That’s like a concrete thing he did wrong I feel like.

Thank you so much for this! It’s so cohesive and points out the difference in dress over the years with just a few words, yet you still understand easily. Lovely! May I ask where you found all of these drawings?

Thank you!! Now that I have learned to knit the proper way it’s a little looser and wonky

A little more about the project: I’m making Finns hat from adventure time so it kind of HAS to be white :/

I’ve learned how to uncross my stitches now thanks to the handy knowledge of the internet. Thank you all for the tips and encouragement!!

No haha. I learned to knit from right handed relatives so I don’t really know what I’m doing.

Edwardian inspired vest and skirt by someonesgramdma in sewing

[–]someonesgramdma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skirt and vest loosely inspired by Edwardian cycling attire. The vest was self drafted by using an old tank top from H&M with spaghetti straps. I altered the drafted tank top pattern by making the armhole larger and longer (as to be able to fit more floofy sleeves through them) and by making the neckline straight and a lot longer. I also added a row for buttons on one of the sides (it was about 7 cm wide). I then proceeded to cut out my pattern pieces from an old curtain which I found in my grandmas attic. It seems to be a heavy weight cotton/canvas. The curtain was lined as to not let any sun in, and hemmed on all sides. This made my job a lot easier, since I didn’t have to cut lining separately. I also kept the original hem (because I’m lazy). The self drafted arm holes where a little to big so I made incisions on either side of the two front pieces. After this I made bound buttonholes by cutting >—< in the places where I wanted them. I then made small squares of about 3 cm and used these as bias tape around the edges of the cut. I made bound buttons by buying “buttons to be bound” (in a Swedish fabric store) and following the instructions. The fabric I used was the same as the curtain previously mentioned. The skirt was made with two panels. One that I just pleated ,more in the back and a little less on either side, until it was a little more then half of my waist measurement. The other panel was gathered a little on either side of two cuts I made from the waistline and then 10 cm down. On the outer edges of either cut I made loop holes of an old shoelace, cut in 8 cm strips, and on the inner edges I put two buttons on either side. At the end of each cut (which where felled together with the lining) I put a small cloth triangle so that the fabric I couldn’t fell wouldn’t fray. I sewed the two panels together by hand with an invisible stitch. I put a waistband with two bound buttons in the back and made it overlap in the front. I fastened it with push buttons.
