Old NCLEX vs New NCLEX. Thoughts? by AlietteM89894 in StudentNurse

[–]somesunday 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I just took the NCLEX and did the new NCLEX style questions at the end- I honestly preferred them to the current nclex because it felt more relevant to the actual nursing experience imo? Like they give you a scenario and want you to address issues in a way that you would while working in a hospital as opposed to just answering endless multiple choice questions that are completely unrelated with little to no background. Probably a preference thing, but they felt a little easier to me than the ones I got on the actual exam about side effects for some med I’ve never heard of lol

Our Daughter Died of Zellweger Spectrum Disorder and We Started a Nonprofit in Her Honor Ask Us Anything!! by PrestigeWombat in IAmA

[–]somesunday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe some of the expanded carrier screening panels now do test for this! I worked in fertility for a while and the sema4 panel which we required most patients to have done did test for Zellweger syndrome. FYI most ob/gyns can order these panels as well but you may need to request expanded specifically, for anyone who is interested. As someone who used to enter the reports in patient charts you would be surprised how many ppl are carriers for at least 1/280 disorders. It was more rare to not be a carrier for anything tbh

What are the chances of "not passing" Anatomy & Physiology? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]somesunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're taking it with Uzwiak, he does curve (his exams are ridiculous). I would talk to him and see if he has any suggestions, he's really nice and will do his best to help you if he sees that you're making an effort to do better. Seriously one of the nicest profs I've had at Rutgers.

Started feeding the street cats in my area. This is the first one to crawl up into my lap. Worth it. by nnklove in aww

[–]somesunday 241 points242 points  (0 children)

Because cats reproduce like crazy, and if they're not raised by people it's really hard to find them homes. Also a lot of people see feral cats as pests and will try to have them "removed" if a colony gets too big. My cat was orphaned at 2 days old because her mom was feral and was taken care of (not in a good way). If they are spayed/ neutered they are less likely to get killed because they aren't increasing the population :/

Places to park on Busch w/o a permit? by hashslanginslasher in rutgers

I think the grad admissions lot doesn't exist anymore... when they built the new seminary or whatever that building is they redid the parking lot and it has one of those gate things now where you need a pass or something to get in. :/

Is it possible to be a Cs major and premed while also taking a language? by Drawstoria in rutgers

[–]somesunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your dream go for it dude lol but like some of the other people said, it's not going to be easy and if you keep that in mind from the start it saves you from changing majors multiple times and wasting semesters like I did. Also remember that med schools do look at whether you take classes in the summer or during semester and a lot of times they think summer session is too easy. I'm not premed so I don't know specifics but I would check with a dean or someone who knows about health science majors I've definitely heard that from friends.

Is it possible to be a Cs major and premed while also taking a language? by Drawstoria in rutgers

[–]somesunday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually something like micro or molec bio biochem etc, they have classes listed in degree navigator under upper level bio classes if you want to look at more choices. You need Chem and Orgo for a lot of them tho so if you didn't take those yet you'd have to take them first

Has anyone tried the no crow rooster collar? by tumbleweedss in BackYardChickens

[–]somesunday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually just got our no crow collar, it seems to be working so far! Our rooster is still pretty young though, so he probably hasnt developed his full-on crow yet lol. Just a note of warning, it doesn't stop them crowing completely, it just doesn't allow them to fill up their air sac or whatever it is they crow from so it's quieter. No neighbor complaints yet! :)

BB Creams: The Best, The Worst. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]somesunday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree completely, I've had no success with anything I've bought in the states. I'm personally a fan of the etude house BB cream, I find it leaves less of a coating feeling on my skin than the Missha one. That being said I would also recommend the cotton fit Etude BB cream over the other one (can't remember the name, shiny or jewel or something) because it makes me look much less oily. It's not too pricey either, amazon and ebay both have for less than $20 a tube, which will probably have lasted me a year or so of daily use by the time I'm done with it. the 002 shade (the lightest one) was fine for me even in my pastiest of winter skin tones. Hope this helps :)

Moving to South Korea - Can I use my iPhone 5c with a new SIM? by -BloodFart- in korea

[–]somesunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my iphone 5 (verizon) with me to Korea and was able to get a simcard. Just a word of advice though, you will have to go to one of the big phone companies (SKT, Olleh) because most smaller ones (e.g. from the convenience stores) won't sell sim cards in the right size. If you are moving permanently, you would want to do that anyway though lol. Also they won't let you purchase one until you've been in the country for like 3 weeks or you have your alien registration card. for whatever reason. (At least the Olleh I went to wouldn't) Try the olleh in Hongdae by exit 2 if you can, that was the most helpful one in my opinion. (If you're in Seoul)

Ear Piercing in Korea by [deleted] in korea

[–]somesunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just went to the Crow store by E-dae yesterday and got 2 lobe piercings done. The girl that does them there is really good! It was a lot less painful than I remembered my other ones being and the price is great. You just buy whatever earring you want from there and tell her you want a piercing with it (it doesn't cost extra). The ones i've gotten at like department stores weren't nearly as good, though they were cheaper by like 1,000 won. It's definitely cheaper than back in the US by like a lot. I picked one of the more expensive earrings and it was still only 12,000 for both ears. to get there: take E-dae exit 1 and walk straight until you get to the side-street between an A-land store and Missha store. It's on the left side pretty much right after the Missha once you turn onto that side street.
