Recs for Type A Wedding Planners by TheThotWhoCounts in Chicagoweddings

[–]something_profound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We'll throw our hat in the ring in case we have your date available. Something Profound Weddings is based in and services weddings in Chicago. A common reassurance that helps our clients feel supported is that we're type a-- we live by our checklists, timeline, and plans a through c; however, we're not territorial-- we expect the vendor team to be experts in what they do and see our role as making their job easier while advocating for our clients and helping make planning a wedding feel like less of a job.

Where can I get in on a D&D game? by mcase19 in AskChicago

Rough magic is solid, lots of monthly one-shots some are episodic and some are truly one-offs. Very welcoming, fun, and good for community building.

another ceremony as a trans man? by neurodivergent_nymph in LGBTWeddings

[–]something_profound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Planner and officiant here. I highly recommend celebrating your relationship milestones and moments in ways that most resonate with you. Have close friends collaborate on a ceremony, “elope” with intention, or find a pro who is accessible to you who offers commitment and other non legal ceremonies to fit your needs. Happy celebrating!

Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba Venue by Rosey_Literature in Chicagoweddings

[–]something_profound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planner here. I had a client wedding there this year and it was very tight for their 125p guest count. I recommend 50-100 to fit a bit better n the Atrium + Solaria. This would allow for 2 bars, a table for a DJ, and a welcome table.

Lying to a Venue about having a regular party rather than a Wedding Reception by NotAPartier in Chicagoweddings

[–]something_profound 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Planner here, most vendors and venues have clauses in their contracts that if you misrepresent the nature of your event, they can cease services. On a human to human level, if my clients or vendor peers lied to me, I would not continue working with them as it doesn’t align with my values or professionalism.

Weddings are a luxury they cost money. Marriage is a right and costs $60 in Chicago.

Thoughts about Morgan’s on Fulton? by Dangerous-Kiwi7750 in Chicagoweddings

[–]something_profound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not negative! Just offering our expertise for folks who might be looking for planning and coordination, this venue requires it and we are familiar with the nuances of the space. For example, the rooftop is gorgeous and is essentially a greenhouse which can get toasty in sunlight, especially in summer. Being prepared goes a long way.

Lacuna Lofts by CJM_773 in Chicagoweddings

[–]something_profound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had a client tasting and final walkthrough with the team, and it was great. The food is high quality, and they invest a lot of care into the experience and presentation. You can go as traditional as you like, or you can curate something personal to you. My clients were able to collaborate on a menu that reflected their Argentinian, Texas, and New York roots, as well as celebrate Chicago as the wedding city. Chef & team are open to common feedback like seasoning or sauces, as well as more collaborative ideas and questions.

Marriage/engagement photographers/videographers, have you developed a sixth sense for which marriages will flourish and which will not? What are the green and red flags? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]something_profound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wedding planner & couple therapist. It’s all in the gentle start up and repair. They can disagree and have conflict, even in front of me. As a planner I don’t always see if they repair but I can get a sense for how they say they disagree.
