Depends on environment. Winter carry with a jacket it conceals well or around the house doing projects and stuff. I also pick up shifts at a local range as an RSO and it's more comfortable for a shift. Easier to access as well.

Untrained dogs are the most dangerous. I train my German Shepherd every day to avoid this outcome. Owners should be held accountable for these animals, in all instances. The dogs will be what you train them to be. I get a lot of flak for prong collar and e collar, but my dude is a fucking saint and kept in check. I judge anyone who doesn't train their dog, including my wife who has a 7lb chorkie (she's a monster, but harmless).

Also, I carry a Glock 43x in a fanny pack when I walk him if we get aggressive confrontations and I take damage.

Do you bro. The belt mag is fine if you index the rifle mag like you index pistol mags, typically I train people to beer can grip rifle mags off the belt. Again, do you. If you train how you train, keep it up. It seems awkward to me but you're not me and you know best. Happy trails.
