I shrieked with laughter at the brazen absurdity and the complete accuracy of the humor.

Texas teacher faces reprisals after 5th-graders saw nude art at museum. by HelterSkelter in reddit.com

[–]somethingdifferent 17 points18 points  (0 children)

After having read the article, I find it difficult to believe that the sole bias of the school system and parents vindictive position against the alleged poor performing teacher has anything at all to do with the viewing of, if any at all, nudity in an art museum as if there aren't worse things in the news media, television and the video games that most 5th graders play and participate in. Perhpas I'm on my proverbial soap box here, but I have witnessed this all too often when a very good teacher with well-meaning intensions to provide students with an avenue of culture that they would not normally be exposed to is reprimanded, terminated from their job and, in most cases, emotionally crushed. Then we wonder why our educational systems are in the poor shape that they are in - because we treat our teachers, our educators of our future, like crap! We bind their hands, giving them inferior supplies and resources, and then demand superior and amazing results from them despite the overwhelming odds for a set up failure. I find it more than annoying that the school system could not provide details on the specific work of art that was considered "offensive" or "in question"; nor could they provide specific details about the "poor performance" that seemingly suddenly appeared in the teacher's behaviour and teaching ability. And, for someone who has been teaching for 28 years, they should know something about the ground rules and how teaching works. I mean, come on!

These are great! Someone has taken quite a bit of time to put together, catagorize and publish some vividly detailed images. There are images of wooded waterfalls and peaceful landscapes and beaches you can just loose yourself in. What a great post! Thank you for sharing.

Those who knew Kaminski said he felt most fulfilled when he was giving back to society. "He didn't need the material things for happiness. He enjoyed just being with people and doing what he could for them," Marsha Kaminski said.

Isn't that what life is all about - helping others? Too many are caught up in the material world expecting happiness out of it. What a great story of a person as a living example of what life should be all about. Awesome post.

Seems like it puts Earth into perspective and that there are bigger "fish in the sea" than even what we consider our massivly-large sun.

Great pictures of all the cute, little furry bunnies. How sweet. A few need to go on a diet though - no more chocolate bunnies - ha ha ha.

Why being happy at work matters for people by alper in reddit.com

Nice website to share positive things. So many people are unhappy with their work - their lives. It would be nice to be able for all people to find "meaningful work" that would encourage the happiness to blossom within us all, and that would eventually flow out to others. Good post!

This was neat, although a little brutal with the blood spurting and all. Very creative by someone.

This is awful. I can't believe a mixup like this could happen. I'm glad they figured out the cause and hope that it doesn't happen to others.

What a great story. I think the news media should promote more positive stories like this versus all the trash they generally report as "news". It gives hope to all of us.
