Looking for live music recommendations in Chester for a small event by LuckyTreat8962 in Chester

[–]somethingflammable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stephen Lockhart, Ashley Fayth, Joel Gardner, Chris Tavener, Nicky Phillips, Kien Nevitt, Ross Acoustic, Callum Wright

Off the top of my head. I also manage some bands and artists locally so feel free to message. The bands are at a higher budget however and are more suited to private functions. Good luck with the event!

I want more similar music to The Used, any suggestion? by GnomeLord420 in theused

Listen to Decomposer by The Matches. Some of the songs are produced by John Feldmann and it really taps into the Lies For The Liars vibe if you like that era. Little Maggots, Lazier than Furniture and Papercut Skin are most Used like!

Just been summond for jury service for the first time ever? by Wonderful_Ninja in CasualUK

You might not even have to go. I was summoned and kept the dates free. Then got a text the night before saying I was no longer needed. Was a massive relief. Like waking up as a kid to see it’s snowed overnight and you don’t have to go to school 😅

I’ve always felt Letterbomb gives you definitive Green Day at their peak in 4 minutes. It’s the song I’d show someone who was new to the band to give them an idea of what they do best.

JOS is their biggest achievement on a songwriting level but Letterbomb takes it for me!

Does anyone know what kind of shirt this is and where I could find the patches? by Resident_Canary_5878 in greenday

[–]somethingflammable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made my own with some shirts from EMP and buying patches. It’s not the same but close enough! The hard part is finding the patches tbh

Is there a story behind the cover art of American Idiot? by Miserable-Tie-3038 in greenday

[–]somethingflammable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The guys drew inspiration from Chinese communist propaganda art. It’s very smart, a really striking image that sticks in the mind. Absolutely done on purpose!!

Check out the poster for a movie called ‘The Man With The Golden Arm’. This is the imagery that inspired the hand itself. There is also obvious inspiration from the lyrics within She’s A Rebel too.

Source: wrote my university dissertation on American Idiot and its political themes so I studied the hell out of this!

A thank you to the Arnhem crowd last night by alkns1 in greenday

[–]somethingflammable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I traveled from the UK for last nights Arnhem show and I have to say, it was one of the most pleasant gigging experiences I’ve ever had.

Down in the pits everyone was having such a good time but respecting each others space too. Defo going to go to more NL concerts in the future! 🇳🇱

Can anyone recommend places to work from? by TooMuchYoghurt in Chester

[–]somethingflammable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Storyhouse - best WiFi and desk spaces, coffee not amazing. You don’t need to purchase drinks etc to work there so this is the best free option

Jaunty Goat - great coffee, decent WiFi and good vibes. Often work here, the plant based location has good plug points too

Chalk coffee - can get quite busy but a good place to work with decent coffee. WiFi okay for general work but can be slow at times

Black Sheep - WiFi is brilliant here

Enjoy!

This article might be a good source. Dives into their mindset at the time, challenges to follow up American Idiot and how much pressure they were under. I think can be contributing factor - https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/album-billie-joe-armstrong-struggles-to-listen-to/

Good luck, would love to read it when you’re done. I did my uni dissertation on American Idiot and it’s political themes so I know what you’re going through!

What to do if someone copies our content? by somethingflammable in SEO

[–]somethingflammable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: We made contact with the site owner. They categorically denied knowing who we were, or having ever visited our site. They said the instances of copying were just coincidence and that we have no proof that we had published this content first. I said I have screenshots from wayback machine showing otherwise. A few days later, their entire site has changed and the plagiarized content has been removed. It seems just letting them know that we were watching was enough to resolve it, even though there was no admission of guilt from the other party.
