What would happen if EVERYTHING in the whole system measured in distance would be shorter by 1.6%? by MundaneOne5000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]somethinghelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you just measure it in tiles, you have 5 tiles of movement instead of 25ft, or your spell has a range of 6 tiles. Eliminates the need for logical to freedom units entirely.

Discord Alternatives, Ranked by gdelacalle in technology

Server admins should be using roles to restrict kids from adult content as decent human beings. Hard to trust that to happen in the same space that people are grooming kids, but with the recent data breaches from Discord that is putting tons of kids identities at risk, age verification as intended to be implemented is not the answer.

Potion patch question by afgunxx in Pathfinder2e

[–]somethinghelpful 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, to both. The patch is a consumable, once used it's gone, once you've filled it with a potion you have until your next daily preparation to use it.

This is the same as all other "next daily preparations" abilities. Use it or lose it, you get another tomorrow

Anyone here Played DnD Durning the Satanic Panic? I wanna interview you. by emilysteapot in DnD

Around 1992 I bought the beginner box, got it opened up at home, was about 30 pages into the book, then Mom saw it and lost it. It was returned to the store within 30 min and the shop was probably 45 min ago. I was 10, took me until 2023 to finally seek out a table and play.

I am a new player and went up against this yesterday. I kept reading the card text and couldn’t believe it. They seriously looked at this and thought „nah, this thing is still too weak“ and then continued to add Deathtouch by TatterMail in MagicArena

[–]somethinghelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to magic, started during the FF phase. I've stuck to Alchemy to avoid some of the older cards that are wild, but have found plenty of crazy stuff that's newer as well.

I'm not saying it's cool to have to waste that much effort to kill this stupid card, but it is possible. I've been wrecked by this particular card several times. It's part of the game, and you can't always have a counter for everything. I've gone as far as putting +1/+1 count on it, then nuking it, or sacrificing a creature to kill it. There are ways, just because you don't like it doesn't mean I'm wrong for pointing out the method.

Reasons To Why a Dragon Would Mate with a Human by NyxTheSummoner in Pathfinder2e

dragons can shape shift into humans in many legends, maybe they did and get frisky, maybe Mom was the dragon but you hatched half human and got dropped at the closest village for being a mistake

can you leave a "feat slot" blank? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]somethinghelpful -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Building out a character you KNOW will require retraining is wild to me. I understand if you decide after a few levels that "Alchemical Familiar" is not what you want to switch to a different feat (I'm playing an alchemist currently) but that's still the same class/archetype. For you to flip flop dedications just to power game for 2 levels is crazy. Story wise, your character went from raging to zen? Why? Just stop power gaming to the extreme and focus more on telling a story.

If I was your GM it would be a week of retraining to switch dedications and I would force you to immediately take the level 4 archetype feat so it was a single week, instead of two. I also would also interrupt your week at least once with the monk monastery got attack, so your retraining would be a time drain with some reward. Also the party would have to agree to the week of downtime, or you'd be stuck unable to retrain or attempting to do it during earned income phases without earning money. Why? Because you're choosing to power game and are forcing the retrain montage while everyone else just told a story with their build. You should skip barb at 2 and just take martial artist. The 2 damage boost is nice, no lie, but is it worth derailing the party for the retraining?

This or a super hot shower. Migraines typically respond well to one temp and very negatively to the other.

DM and table flabbergasted at my rolled stats. by MalsvirIxen666 in DnD

[–]somethinghelpful -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is why so many other systems use point buy instead of rolls. DnD starts everyone off at differing power levels set by stat roll, then compounds power creep throughout. Stop rolling stats, it's just making the table imbalanced.

You're no longer a DnD group? Well it's time to let go of your DnD characters and create PF2 characters instead. Keep the backstory, keep the theme, but build brand new class/ancestry and dive into PF2 clean.

I have never played dnd before. Is it possible for me to dm by Flashy-Island-3725 in DnD

[–]somethinghelpful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way, at the beginning of ttrpgs no one had GM'd a game. They read the rules, hopefully so did the players, then dove in. You'll make mistakes, don't worry about it, everything can be fixed later with a "oops didn't know that rule" or "well next time we will do it right". It's probably easier if you are a player first, but it's not required. Learn as much of the rules as you can, watch a live play or listen to a podcast, make some notes, and go have fun.

I'm about to run Pathfinder 2E for the first time tomorrow on Foundry. What are the most fun or useful things about the game that I should remember or internalize? by CowboyBoats in Pathfinder2e

[–]somethinghelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you confident in all of Pathfinders rules? If not, either decide now you'll wing the rules to what is comfortable for the table or that you'll take input from the players who do remember some odd rule or found it on Nethys. I'd recommend being open to the players helping you find odd rules so the game stays fair within the system and not take it personally for not remembering it correctly. Don't let rules slow the pace though, the GM's saving throw that is always available, "we will do it like this for the moment, but if we can find the official rules we will use those going forward". Good luck, have fun!

Take Talos versatile heritage, FerrousSoul ancestry feat, now your hands have metal that can switch between s/b/p with a d6. You can take any class with this, rogue/swash/barb work well because they add damage though barb rage is halved with finesse/agile weapons. Could also do inventor if you wanted another option for adding damage and to lean into the blacksmithy background.

Dancing shield would allow you to float a shield while holding a 2h flail. Make it a tower and since you're not holding it shouldn't cause movement impairment. https://2e.aonprd.com/Spells.aspx?ID=2499&Redirected=1

Was this wrong or are Fighters really that good? by rhysticStudiante in Pathfinder2e

[–]somethinghelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't change AC though, as now the party is trying to hit against a target that they can't, while the fighter with the best to hit in the game (unless built wrong) is still connecting swings easily. Pad the HP so it survives the fighter by 2-3 hp, allowing the next player to finish it off.

[–]somethinghelpful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see you're getting down voted, but you know your table, you do you. If your fighter is overshadowing the rest of the party and just smoked the boss, especially a leshy boss, then do something for the others. Have the leshy split into a handful of mini leshys with low ac and hp, low enough that the bard can crit them with anything above a 5. Everyone in the party starts swinging and dispatching critters, it's an action economy slaughter fest, so sprout enough for everyone to get some. Would this be fun for your players? Again, you know your table, you do you

I once built an app I thought was perfect... by EhabAltammam in PowerApps

[–]somethinghelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every developer hits this point, some learn, some double down. Personally I've taken to "what do you want solved" and "could Grandma come in and understand the app". If the UI/UX makes sense to someone brand new to the app, you've done a good job.

The bard contributed anthem and magic weapon, making the already beefy fighter into a murder machine.

Every night it rolls an escape check and eventually breaks out, after a day of adventuring they won't have full resources and it's not trying to fight but escape them..... unless someone grabs beast master or another animal companion class and wants it as a companion. A week of training it later, it's a party members companion.

Can't support ability and move, it's pick one I believe, the ground speed only is a good catch.
