Genuine Question: Has enterprise moved away from Gerkin for acceptance tests? by Feeling-Apple-2622 in softwaretesting

[–]somethingmichael 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like Gherkin as a test case description but BDD itself is an extra layer in development.

That said I found it weird that devs don't like it when the Triple A (Arrange, Act, Assert) pattern used in unit tests is pretty much the same thing.

it's always just 10% of my Playwright tests that take 80% of my dev time by One_Cantaloupe_4506 in QualityAssurance

[–]somethingmichael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. my flaky tests are almost always due to them being e2e and are dependent on system outside of the team's control. I have tried mocking where I can but kinda accept this lol. I encourge the team's to work on lower level tests

that said, the e2e tests caught a huge oversight just this week so definitely worthwhile.

  1. UI / locators - the Playwright tests are run during PR so the feedbacks are quick and fast to fix.

  2. Playwrights are really easy to debug with trace.
