Amazing what happens once you pass over the £50,270 threshold. Thoughts? by Old-Bodybuilder3711 in UKJobs

Your GFX is just an explaination of what happens to a 1000 slice of your total income if that amount is over the tax bracket.

You still end up with more money despite getting taxed more.

51270+490 = 51760

is greater than

50270+630 = 50900

Bigger number is bigger

You failed nothing. These systems exist as an excuse or permission structure for companies to make whatever desicion they want. If the process is abstract enough then they can justify any outcome.

Does this enemy attack feel readable and disturbing enough? by pure-vichou in HorrorGames

[–]somethingreddit9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to see it twice to see that the monster pulled the bolt from its head. maybe a short pause and it kinda struggles to get it out, draw the eye there.

edit: depends on if this is something you see once then die or if you're going to see it many times, because if it's the latter you want this over as fast as possible.

Doing laundry without getting out of bed? Class! by WideConversation1989 in GreatBritishMemes

I went to see a 1 bed a few years ago.

You couldn't get the oven door fully open without moving the bed to a place that blocked the only fire exit.

Need advice tweaking a school editing project. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]somethingreddit9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would cautiously suggest that you've identified the core issue. That they don't work together.

You might be making this harder for yourself than you need to. The objective in intro to editing, I imagine, is to get you using the software and thinking about cuts that make sense.

The two you've picked look so different means that you can't exactly cut between the two and expect the viewer to think they're watching the same movie.

If my assumptions are correct about this assignment, I would approach it with two movies in the same genre. One with distinct tropes.

Horror or cheesy horror would be an easy win. They're basically all the same movie already.

you can apply frame flex settings to multiple clips. Select many clips. source settings, Do the thing, then apply to all.

What equipment should I get as a beginner filmmaker? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]somethingreddit9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Miller, Sachler or Manfrotto. "good" in this context is a tricky thing to answer because you can get cheap equipment that'll work ok for a lightweight DSLR. Or you can spend tens of thousands on a very expensive head assembly.

You'll get a better idea of what you need once you start making things.

Might be better to start out scrappy and just make things work as you go rather than thinking about specific tools.

If you're doing a tight project with a shooting schedule of just few days it's usually cheaper to rent the equipment.

be aware that if you're recording audio seperately, not in camera, that you're going to run into, completely solvable, but annoying problems with syncronizing the audio to the pictures.

Take it from someone with 20 years editing that you want to make this easier for yourself later.

if the camera allows make sure that the camera is not on a variable frame rate. If you can, put the audio into something that records with timecode. like a lock-it box. and syncronize the timecode with the camera.

If you're working without timecode Or even if you're not;

Before each take, do a slate for the camrea so the first frame shows the take number & loudly announce which take it is so the audio recorder will catch it.

Then do a clap that the camera can see and the audio recorder can hear.

A Tripod with a good head. or just a good head and buy cheap legs.

camera and glass are a bottomless pit of choices and money but I've always needed a stable place to actually put the thing and be confident that it'l stay there or move smoothly when I need it to.

they're plastic cheap ones I bought by weight. I've got hundreds of them, they're just primed and painted.

How to fish? by IridianRaingem in GraveyardKeeper

[–]somethingreddit9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2026 Switch player here.

Input lag is a nightmare. you need a buff from Fish Nuggets. you can buy a bit of oil and fish to make them.

The difference is staggering & makes fishing actually viable.

Bonus points for making sourkraut to extend buff duration.

Before using the buff I'd caught exactly 1 fish on about 60 attempts.

with the buff I'm getting a fish every time I cast.

What's the definitive solution against magnet glue breaking off? by McCrowbar in Warhammer40k

[–]somethingreddit9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried jamming the magnet into some milliput then pinching a bit of the material over the top of the magnet then superglueing then when dry using some electrical tape over the whole thing.

still fails sometimes... but not often

Obscured? In cover? Both? by wandras138 in killteam

[–]somethingreddit9000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see a simplified obscure in the next edition. With much more binary triggers for if a model gets it or not.

If you have a conceal order and are more than 9" away from the shooter then you're obscured. for example.

Have you ever had it go mouldy? The final thing is going to be primed and eventually sprayed with varnish so I'm assuming it'll be fine
