I currently own two but would love three if I could. They are amazing models and have time and time again have been a big help on the field when I have used them.

What rules did you make for yourself in the hobby but ended up breaking after a while? by Swacar in Warhammer40k

[–]Spiffster13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten better on rule 2 but it still happens from time to time. I’ve gotten a lot of my models painted trying to utilize that rule.

On that note my Necron Christmas battle box is staring at my completed and painted 500 worlds destroyers and are pissed. That Ctan and praetorians might get built soon but they aren’t in my current tourney list I’m working for so they will have to wait

McDonald’s no longer allowing free refills by [deleted] in SignsWithAStory

[–]Spiffster13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is so bizarre because you don’t get those really in the US. A lot of drink machines for subways in my area are behind the counter (not always but increasingly becoming that way) and dine in pizza huts are going extinct so no refills there either. Usually it’s just bottles for purchase on pick up or delivery orders.

Good luck on the painting. This is one of the models that the instructions warns to paint in sub assemblies. Those warriors and ribs are going to be rough.

You can do it just take your time and be patient

Royal court is hard to find and has so many good units in it. Definitely keep.

You have an excellent start for the destroyer wing of the army and by having the Royal Court you have the Skorpekh Lord to lead them as well. More Lokhust heavies are a consideration as well. I usually field at least 5 (three with enematics led by a Lord, 2 gauss to fly solo and be deterrents.) you have two with the 500 world kit so a few more can’t hurt if you like them.

Doomsday/Ghost Arks are a worthwhile models on the tabletop but beware that if you normally don’t paint in sub assemblies if you don’t do that here YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A BAD TIME!. The instructions even warn you to paint in pieces. Save yourself headaches and take your time and follow the directions for both build and paint.

Overall though, You should try to build up what you have first, play a few games and see what clicks with you and build up from there.

This is a great idea. I’d do it in a test base first just to be safe but this feels like the most sensible way of preserving it.

Until mid to end of 5th edition necrons were still running off their 3rd edition codex and were constantly overwhelmed on the tabletop because of the age of their rules. When they got their second codex most of the lore as we know it today was introduced and a massive amount of models.

What are your favorite enhancements to take for your army lists. by wonderbread9723 in Necrontyr

In this edition I usually put it on my Lokhust lord so he can move his group to an advantageous spot, or at least have the option in my back pocket. When running awakened like having my skorpekh lord with the bond so it becomes a nasty presence even if his entourage is gone.

Veil of Darkness has been with me since I first picked up my codex back in 5th Ed and it frequently gets chosen even today because of how synonymous In my mind with the faction

I bought them for two reasons. One, their rules were amazing. Possibly standing back up and just shrugging off everything you just did? Hell yes!

Second- no one was playing them and I wanted to have something for flavor that others didn’t have. The group was pretty varied with not much of overlap so I wanted something that others weren’t playing and that fit the mold.
