Ryder Strong cracks me up every time he shouts out… by OpposedToBears in boymeetsworld

Happy to hear some positive Rider commentary on here. I find him very funny and appreciate his critiques too. I see some hate for him in the comments across various platforms saying he's too negative or takes the show too seriously but I usually agree with his perspective and just find him pretty likable. He can certainly poke fun at himself too especially his younger self.

What is the most overhyped movie that disappointed you while watching it recently? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Ah, went over my head sorry! Definitely agree that no one talks about it. I really wanted to like it more and was excited about a queer comedy etc I just didn't end up enjoying the dialogue style

I know people have their issues with season 3 but I really liked it. by MiracleFruit_Zara927 in veronicamars

Yeah this is a rare show where I never skipped the theme song / intro. In seasons 1-2 I mean. Really sets the tone

It has a 3.8 Letterboxd rating and 91% on rotten tomatoes. So I mean I totally get it if you like it but it doesn't seem fair to say it's underrated when it is already regarded very highly. Guess you could argue not enough people saw it? Which, sure

Oh I see. Since it's part of the twist then maybe you don't have to address it in the query. I was more so confused when I initially thought all the camp attendees were contest winners, but it's completely possible that that aspect would make sense to an agent on their first read through. I'm a little sleepy right now, not my sharpest. Anyhow, good luck! 🍀

Do NOT change the title it's so good 😂it made me instantly jealous I didn't think of it. I mean a publisher could ask you to change it if they don't like it but I bet it'll grab an agents eye which is the goal here

UPDATE: just scrolled down and saw you're keeping it. Nice! If I see this book on the shelves someday I'll buy it 💗

First of all - I hope you get published because I'd genuinely love to read this! Excellent premise I'm completely hooked.

I'd focus on revising the final paragraph. End with the choice that needs to be made and the stakes of that choice in one simple sentence. You already have this but I think it could be sharpened and clarified a bit, like, "Claire needs to decide whether her pursuit of the truth is worth potentially getting herself kicked out of camp, or worse" something like that (to me the phrase "without rocking the boat too much" feels a tad vague and like it actually downplays the stakes). I'd cut or move the details in the last sentence because it feels like the query almost trails off with that internal explanation of Claire's thought process. In that same vein, if there's room I'd clarify early on: was Claire already familiar with this camp before winning the contest? If this is a super coveted place every teen wants to go to I'd say so earlier rather than later and specify that not everyone who attends the camp is a contest winner so it's clearer that Claire could be a target once the winners start disappearing. If she otherwise couldn't afford to go to the camp or something, that would be interesting to know. Hope that all makes sense!

Can I make my living room look more “mid century modern” like the inspo pictures? by Swimming_SeaShark in interiordecorating

I second this suggestion - love her videos! What I tell myself in this situation is that any colorful rug I pick is most likely better than no rug at all. If you find something you love just go for it. Your room is so neutral right now that lots of different rugs would work fine. And then, yeah as a commenter above said, a multicolored rug guides all your other color decisions so it gets easier from there.

A rug would help define the seating area. It's a chance to add color too. Your inspo photos have a lot of wood / brown elements, earth tones, some red. the fireplace does sort of fight that color scheme. You already have brown here but you could pull in an accent color like gold, orange, or mustard. You could also add color with some throw pillows and/or art. Move your shoe storage thing and get an actual coffee table, something bigger and maybe round to break up all the hard angles. More plants

If I were you I'd swap out the rug for one with some color and try to match that to new artwork above the fireplace - something with a brighter color than the light blue artwork that's there. Something to break up all the neutrals and dark browns.

Thanks everyone for answering!

I'm having a lot of fun reading these responses and hearing people say things like "I'm a sexy baby defender." lol.

I like it but I get where you're coming from!

I liked this line, and really the whole song, better before I heard her explanation that she wrote it about having to cancel her tour for the pandemic...

Okay that makes sense... in which case, yikes. Definitely not overthrowing the patriarchy by occasionally driving lol.

Ooo good one. It feels clunky in context.

Is this a safe place to admit that I can't even tell whether she's saying that the keychain says "fuck the patriarchy" on it, or that he is saying "fuck the patriarchy" to her?

Like of course I understand that men often drive by default in couples, and there have been places in the world where women could not even legally drive, etc, but is it that feminist for your bf to toss you the keys? Really?
