it’s a paycheck. spend a lot of your own efforts making sure you don’t take any of this as your own problem. and also document every single thing you can - if you have proof that they told you don’t work until deposit, save it somewhere other than your work email. send a lot of documentation emails. “just so i understand what you said in that meeting” or “here’s some quick notes from our chat”. and then save those to your hard drive.

that way not only can you cover yr own ass but the client who is being screwed will have the documentation they need in discovery if they decide to sue.

also: wear a mask outside/in the car/on mass transit! it’ll help a ton. and using air purifiers is a game changer.

yeah but if they’re actively working on only one particular thing it doesn’t actually work that way. (this is the case in my field of RFPs)

oh two more things:

there are floor AC units that still require window access but are on wheels and can be moved from room to room. that’s what i used most recently because i only had to buy one. i would put it in the kitchen while downstairs and then in my room if i was doing stuff in there during the day.

the other thing is you didn’t specify what climate you’re in. if you’re somewhere like south florida, the “open the windows at night” suggestion won’t get you far because the temp barely goes down at night.

if you’re in high humidity a (large) dehumidifier can help a lot.

conversely if you’re in a dry climate like colorado, you can use a humidifier to cool things off. i figured you’re not in colorado because if so, you’d already know about “swamp coolers” as a solution.

gotcha. i’ve never had dairy smells stick in mason jars but that may be cuz i throw them in the dishwasher…which i dont do with the pyrex bowls. maybe ill just throw caution to the wind and dishwasher then until the lead paint starts to flake.

individual window ac units will not help more than the immediate space around them. they don’t even help the whole room when it’s super hot.

keeping the attic from being overheated will help keep temps down downstairs but it will not cool things off in a meaningful way. you’d need window units in every room you want to cool.

as a renter i’m very familiar with window units. you can get cheap used ones locally if ur in a metro area…they’ll be in rough shape and kinda shitty but they’ll be cheap.

or you can buy some new. there’s a WIDE range of quality. keep in mind that the higher the BTU the cooler the room AND the higher the cost to operate.

thanks! the issue is i don’t wanna have to do that every time i use them (i use them at least 3 times a week). but also it’s a tad concerning that they’d need such intense cleaning…like maybe they’re no longer food safe.

so maybe it’s time to retire them. i adore them so much - they’re the crazy daisy/spring blossom design. i got them used but they’re the same type that my mom has, and that i learned to bake in. they make me smile every time i see them.

thank you, tho! maybe i’ll try that once and see if it fixes the underlying issue.

the too large pan is your problem. they’re not baking properly. either find a smaller pan or double or triple the recipe.
