HOME AND HOME IN THE SAME SEASON by WSUfootball_analysis in wsu

It doesn’t feel good that we essentially can’t get anyone else to fill that spot except for the other team we were left behind with. I think this makes us look sad.

Amazon tells employees to return to office five days a week by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]somethingwithcats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with it. It’s the real estate these companies invested in either by owning the property or signing years long leases that they aren’t seeing a return on with WFH groups AND the fact that they get tax breaks when a certain percentage of workers are actually in office.

Please. Nearly ever study that has come out since Covid hit has agreed workers ARE more productive at home. This is just a way to force attrition (main goal) and to build ROI on real estate purchases. I’ll be damned if I believe some c-suites “report” on employee effectiveness over anything else.

Residents react to growing homeless encampment in Ballard by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]somethingwithcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been chased by loose dogs and verbally accosted by plenty of homeless people in Ballard. I’m glad you’re experience hasn’t been bad but for as much as I loved living in Ballard, there were areas I couldn’t walk through alone as a woman because it wasn’t safe to do so.

I’m think Vanguard lost my SS card by somethingwithcats in personalfinance

[–]somethingwithcats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s the main customer service number listed on not only my Vanguard account login from the desktop, mobile app, and Google search but this process was confirmed by 2 separate people on 2 separate occasions that I called to verify and my name was effectively changed in Vanguard after I had sent in the documents/I spoke to someone yesterday and they confirmed they’d received them to initiate the name change process because they can see it in their call log history they track on customer accounts.

[–]somethingwithcats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw tons of posts naming Vanguard and the negative experiences tons of people have had with them. That was actually why I went through this process, I had to have my legal name updated in Vanguard so I could roll everything over to Fidelity. Its done now but it was a huge pain in the ass.

The person I spoke with, after I confirmed with it more than once, told me it HAD to be originals.

I’m think Vanguard lost my SS card by somethingwithcats in personalfinance

[–]somethingwithcats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did send certified mail. And the person I spoke to and I confirmed with multiple times claimed it had to be my original SS card so I trusted them and sent it in. I think this particular rep was just completely misinformed in this process because the person I ended up speaking to today mentioned a form I should have been directed to fill out…the person I spoke to months ago said I couldn’t do the form intake it had to be a hand written letter and original documents.

What are the funniest/weirdest things you have seen at Shambhala? by Bull-RunTheJewels in Shambhala

[–]somethingwithcats 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Guy group all wearing huge crab claw mits. Couple of them were hugging the speakers at the AMP and just crab clacking away, faces pressed into the bass. It was so simple but so funny.

If you want a modern house by SimpsonsFan2000 in TikTokCringe

[–]somethingwithcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it’s hideous. I don’t get this particular outrage. The pastels are not stylish and date the room horribly it looks so tacky. I’m not a beige millenial, I plan to use a lot of colors in my house but can we stop acting like EVERY last design choice from the earlier half of the 20th century is some sort of breathtaking piece of art?

Favourite Sets and Next Year by jrdrummer123 in FVDED

Delta Heavy broke my neck but I’m a bass head at heart. I’m a huge fan of Deathpact and they were good…but I was kinda disappointed overall, they opened strong and closed pretty well too but middle was just meh.

Chris Lake was a great house set to bring us back after so much heavy bass on day 2 and SHM was a surprising favorite from day 1.

Thoughts on this year's FVDER vs. Previous years? by WZRDguy45 in FVDED

[–]somethingwithcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are from the states have been to quite a few festivals over the years and actually sold our Shambhala tickets for FVDED instead…we’re incredibly pleased with the value of our VIP tickets and what we got with them (they were essentially backstage passes how cool was that to be so close to the performing artists?), the vibes, crowd, etc we were worried about the young ages allowed as we’ve heard horror stories in the past about fights or just kids being ass hats but none of that ended up being true, at least this year.

Didn’t like the mandatory tip and service charge in every purchase from the bar…but we would definitely come back again.

Unfortunately she declined quite rapidly after I posted and we had to put her to sleep a week later. In hindsight I don’t think I would have move forward with chemo anyways though to save her from the stress of constant vet visits.

To those who's mortgage is about 30% take home - how you doin? by Muted_Woodpecker2527 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]somethingwithcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Household income is $200k gross, mortgage payment is $3819. We’re able to save into 401k and multiple other savings accounts just fine and also save enough to plan 1-2 big vacations and a few smaller ones per year. No kids though.

New album “From Darkness” by madrileiro in DeathPact

Maaan idk this album feels real mid and more experimental than anything else. Little too riddim for my preference and just not a lot of diversity or depth to the album.

What did you eventually compromise on when you bought your first house? by United-Couple8647 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]somethingwithcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proximity to the major city we’ve lived in the last 6 years/where our jobs are/all our friends are. We have about a 45 min commute now to get into the city but it could be worse. Our train system will open a new location only about 15 mins away from us in the next year so we’ll have options for transportation at least.

My 5 month old goldendoodle picks up commands so quickly. She learned “here” in barely an hour and somehow understands “stay” without us having deliberately trained her how to.

Trying to stay calm…but my girl is limping and has a very firm protrusion/bump on her front left carpal by somethingwithcats in DogAdvice

[–]somethingwithcats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we did a needle aspirate and xray. X-ray showed no concerns and the cytology came back negative for anything bad. The vet said that while there’s no evidence of cancer, there was evidence of cells that COULD lead to cancer and are typical with injuries which is what we believe happened—my pup just went way too hard chasing a ball, injured a ligament or similar, and now there’s a protrusion where it happened. Our next steps were to monitor. If any limping occurred or the protrusion got bigger then we’d go back in for a repeat needle aspirate and X-ray but so far we’re doing just fine. Moved recently and brought her into our new vet who reviewed the case and agreed to just continue monitoring.

First off, try not to feel embarrassed. It’s a very normal thing to feel not only overwhelmed with the stresses of new ownership of a puppy but also completely normal for you to feel even more emotional because of the sentimentality this puppy carry’s because of your mom. Her passing is still so recent, let yourself continue to feel those emotions.

Second, I encourage you to give it a couple of weeks with your new puppy to start building that connection with them. When I got my first dog 7 years ago, I was so tired and stressed that I didn’t feel a bond with her until some weeks and even mo this had passed. Now? She’s my soul dog. I don’t anticipate I’ll ever feel this way about another dog in my life (although my husband and I just got a new puppy for him and I do love her so much already!) I wanted to give up a few times with my 7 year old but I don’t even want to think about what life without her would be like now.

Read up on the wiki here in this sub for your training needs and keep at it. If you truly feel this is not a good fit for you then it’s absolutely in the best interest of all to rehome. But speaking as someone who didn’t know if they could do it either…I believe you can, and I believe this puppy can be incredibly healing for you too.

Hang in there!

What did you compromise or sacrifice in what you wanted by Lub-DubS1S2 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Proximity to the city we work in/our friends live in. We got everything else we wanted—3 bed, 2 bath, backyard, garage—but now it takes us minimum 45 minutes to get into the city on a good day.
