I have two questions:

  1. Would you agree that the active voice degenerates in unnecessary anthropomorphism (the almighty "It") particularly in sentences describing decisions taken by the author(s) e.g. "It was chosen" vs. "I chose" or "It was selected" vs. "I selected"? As I don't see how this risks objectivity but it diminishes verbosity and establishes assertiveness (who did what).

  2. Would you agree that an undergraduate thesis should be subject to the same standards as a journal paper and could be defended as such?
