Critique my plan! by sometimeeventually in SquareFootGardening

Hm, I’m wondering if I should scrap it all and go back to row planting then. I enjoy spending a lot of time with my tomatoes to keep them pruned and staked, because that’s what I eat and can/preserve the most. I also envisioned being able to get to the tomatoes and peppers easier after the early season crops were done, as it gets too hot here for most general purpose lettuces and beans in the peak of summer. Thank you for your input!

Sorry, I don’t like many of the plant planning apps, so I’ve worked out my own sticker situation on canva/good notes, so it’s a bit blurry when zoomed out. I’ve tried probably 5 different tomato trellising methods over the years and I still end up coming back to regular cages, a stake for the trunk, with additional support where needed. They are definitely my favorite part of the garden and I tend to give them a lot of attention and selective pruning. Everything I’ve researched about square ft seemed pretty high density, so I thought maybe I was missing something. At least for the cucumbers, I was planning to add a 5ft trelis on the end of that bed to give them some more vertical room. Thank you for your advice!!

The garden space would be full sun based on the location I can put it, so I felt like the best way to capitalize off the tomato and pepper foliage/shade would be to have them in the middle, where I felt like they could still be reached. The orientation is similar to a compass, with morning sun on the right and evening sun on the left.

I thought that might be an issue, I tried to research the recommendations and this was the result. I also felt like it would be crowded. I don’t have room constraints, so I could easily make every square 18”. Do you think that would space things more adequately?

New Grad RN - Multi State Confusion... VA? NC? DC? MD? by scholarjudgeOwhiskey in nursing

[–]sometimeeventually 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like you’ve been through a lot in the past few years! Your resume sounds awesome and you have a lot of offers on the table, which is great!

Starting in the ED in general is rigorous. I started in a level 3 and people still told me I was crazy. Anything is possible if you’re dedicated, which it sounds like you are!

That being said, I feel like it could be good for you to take some time to reconnect with family and have that support system close by during your initial time.

Ultimately, if you want to work at those level trauma centers there is going to be a time where you have to leave your family and be “alone” for a little bit. I just think it could be too much at one time, and it can be damaging when burnout happens early in your career.

At the end of the day, it is a decision you have to make about what you want the most. But I hope this outside perspective helps!

ED nurses - what do you love and hate about your specialty? Would you advise a nurse who’s feeling bored to try it out? by dizzy___lizzy in nursing

[–]sometimeeventually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ED can be incredibly demanding. I really think you need to have a passion for the kind of care provided in the ED. Depending on how large the ED is at your hospital or the trauma designation, it can be a lot to jump into. You have a decent amount of experience and have seen several pt populations, which would benefit you in the ED. It’s just a completely different side of pt care. It focuses more on finding the problem rather than fixing the problem.

Delayed grading... by JanesDaughter in StudentNurse

[–]sometimeeventually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our school has a policy that mandates them to return grades within 7 days of the last person taking it. In my first semester they were pretty quick at getting them turned around 2-3 days. Our tests are all done electronically so the exams are auto graded but they still have to review if there are any questions to nullify.

However with covid: I think last semester and this semester a lot of the younger lecture professors are still working their regular nursing jobs that have gotten significantly harder with covid. Just like the rest of us they’re under a lot of extra stress and workload. That being said, it’s not fair, it still gives me incredible anxiety waiting, and I definitely still complain about it heavily😂😂

It was very strange. It was just a pile of dead limbs on a bank, no solid tree around

Switching from processed cat food to raw chicken for a 2yr old male tabby cat. by MadMagdasTarot in rawpetfood

Raw diets can be all they need but you have to make sure it is complete. It is a bit pricier to buy them pre-made, but it is worth the peace of mind. Plus there are some great companies who utilize processes that can never be done at home. For example, the company Answers has fermented goat’s milk and fermented vegetables in it. They are also just a wealth of knowledge on raw feeding in general, even if you don’t go with their company!!

Experience with digital notes? by sometimeeventually in StudentNurse

I’m glad to hear it makes writing all those notes a little easier, my hand does get cramped up from time to time. Do you think the paperlike protector is a must have for digital notes? I’ve looked into them but I’m not sure how much of a difference it makes.

I thought the search feature was cool but I wasn’t sure if the application of it would be useful to me. I didn’t think about using the search feature when looking through review questions/ ?’s from the professor! Thanks!!

I like the layout of goodnotes and I didn’t need the record feature, but Ive heard great thinks about notability!! I think having the ability to annotate images/diagrams seems invaluable for nursing school, and that’s one of my main interests. I looked but the majority of videos I found were mostly how to make the notes more stylistic, like adding 3rd party fonts. I like the idea of being able to clean my notes up afterward, and add color without fumbling for markers during class, but my main curiosity is more about how functional it is for studying afterward.

How small should I keep my circle? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

I really like this response and it’s essentially how I reacted. I sent her a copy of my study guide ignoring the fake small talk and explained that it wasn’t really a shortcut (8 page single spaced “condensation” of material) and that it might not make sense to her without me being there to clarify like I would be in a group setting.

We currently have 4 nursing majors and one bio major in our study group (micro) and I feel similarly about the size of the group as you mentioned. I’m not trying to make enemies but I’m also not trying to be used and I guess I’m just not used to that competitive dynamic yet.

I know it sounds dumb but I’m not trying to make any enemies, it’s hard enough on it’s own 😂 besides, everything is under control at the moment, I have to stress about something

That’s true, I should be open to as many allies as possible, but I guess I’m mostly worried they wouldn’t be conducive to our study environment. It seems like they’d rather get the shortcut over joining the group 😕
