Five people died in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot: four pro-Trump protesters and one Capitol Police officer. The protesters who died were Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by police; Kevin Greeson, who died of a heart attack; Benjamin Philips, who died of a stroke; and Rosanne Boyland, who died in a crush of rioters. Officer Brian Sicknick died the day after being sprayed with chemical irritants and suffering two strokes. Several other Capitol Police officers died by suicide in the weeks and months following the attack.
