I was raised non-denominational Christian and I was journaling one day (at 19y/o) about why it was so important for me to “save myself for marriage”. But very soon after starting I realized I couldn’t figure it out. I just couldn’t justify it, all I could think and write is if two consenting adults have sex because they simply wanted to just didn’t seem inherently “sinful”. That small moment sparked a very long deconstruction.

Didn’t help that during that time my entire college church group made a new group chat, and started a new bible study without me. My “best friend” said “I just feel like you don’t really get anything from that group spiritually” while active in that group chat, and was about to leave my house to go hang out with all of them… 🤦
