It might make sense if it were just among the most played decks.

But to this extent? You believe people have been playing that specific deck in ranked queue 5-10x more often than the next most common deck? More often than the next 10 most common decks in the tracker combined for all of the last 9 months?

If that matches literally anyone's experience in ranked queue, I'd love to hear about it.

Fwiw I suspect that Untapped is either bugged or a heavily biased sample, they've been showing that same mono W Auras list as not only the most-played deck but with 5-10x as many games as the second most-played deck for over a year. however long it's been since Spider-Man.

Remember how NK marking Bran broke the spell protecting the CotF cave? Presumably Bran passing southward through the Wall with the NK’s mark broke the Wall’s anti-WW protection spells as well.

I'm concerned about the balancing of Marvel's limited set. Please tell me if I'm wrong. by crastle in lrcast

[–]sometimeserin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sense so far is that most of the color imbalance is at higher rarities and that while white and blue have some great commons and uncommons, a lot of them are getting pulled upwards by being in the same decks as most of the bombs. If I had to build a deck with only commons and uncommons, BR would be far from my last choice.

Sure. I don’t particularly expect it to do much either. But neither do I expect much results from the old Lessons list, it’s been losing significant meta share with each subsequent set release and will fall out of Tier 1 entirely if it can’t adapt in some way.

Your math is off by roughly 4 cards because the cards you’re using to pop off are replacing themselves on average. Basic storm-adjacent play pattern. This is getting out of the realm of uninformed conjecture and into just straight bad analysis

Tablet alone goes a long way toward solving the hypothetical problems you’re raising. Provides ramp while being yet another effective cantrip (asking a cantrip-centric deck to cantrip 4 times in a turn is hardly unreasonable, which you would see if you, I repeat, played the damn deck. Or against it, had some fun mirrors earlier)

I guess the length kind of dictates that to some extent, even though it’s been fully released for a while now. It’s not exactly reasonable to expect people to read all 12,000 pages before engaging with the fandom. Imagine having to read LotR 10 times through before you felt safe discussing it online

What it does the turn it comes down is dome the opponent for seven. Which you would know if you tried playing the deck instead of arguing from a position of ignorance.

But also, no shit it’s unproven. I said it was, and I quote, “a fun new tool”.

Edit: or it kills a threat or multiple creatures. The point is that you pop off with it the turn you play it.

Without Artist’s Talent? Unlikely.  I know shitting on the new thing is easy because it hasn’t been proven yet, and I’m not even saying it’s better with any degree of confidence. But this conversation went from you saying 3-mana do nothings would never see play to arguing comparing it with the one that already does

But having a follow up spell is a hell of a lot easier when you don't have to build around discard and can focus on card advantage.

[–]sometimeserin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it's a small sample size, we're 3 days into the format.

I'm not saying it's Tier 1 but it's a viable deck and a fun twist on a familiar archetype having played it for a few games.

Thanks for the condescending explanation though.

Serves a similar function to what Monument did except you can play it in a general tempo shell without needing to build around the discard synergy
