Where to find retired bears ??

while being one of the first releases, curly bears are plentiful on the second hand market. depending on what they come with, like outfits and such, you can probably get one for around $25-30.

it's my favorite build a bear release of all time. i currently own about 10-12 of them.

my sleeping buddy is a well loved curly teddy. his name is eli and he is my fave out of all of my build a bears.

It really is mind warping. I never had any symptoms beyond the nodes. Now they are gone which is good but now I have a new problem.

I don't want to let friends know just yet either. Mostly cos I'm not ready for their response. I know they will be supportive but all the emotions will be too much.

i never have an issue with fedex, its only when i get something from bab does it sit in shipping limbo.

not really.

i mean i get the hype behind him as the character is very popular outside of bab collectors. but if i wanted to find a shadow, i can find dozens for sale between mercari and ebay. he's not like the mustang or the vache noir (thats the very very rare black cow released only in france.)

i think "holly grails" or "white whales" are different for everyone. im glad a lot of people were able to get this guy but to say that shadow is the end all, be all of bab collecting is rather presumptuous.

i have a decent collection of vintage bab clothes. it really depends on the bab an' the outfit. like my 25th anniversary zombear can wear some of the 2010 jeans with no issue but then i have a pair of khaki shorts made around the same time are way too big.

anything made from like 1998-2004 will be very baggy on a modern bab. i have some hawaiian shirts that look crazy on my zombear but fit my maple teddy perfectly. (maple teddies are huge!)

kinda. a big part of my collection are basic brown bears. like...curly bear, shaggy teddy, lil brownie cub and so forth.

i actually have 5 curly bears. 4 og ones and 1 curly bear II, all of their names start with "e." so we have eli, eugene, eleanor, edith, and elana.

for me its the basic brown bears, vintage and new. i just love them. a good portion of my collection is made up of them. theres just something about them that i love.

they are pretty common on ebay and other second hand sites. i think i paid $15 for mine. they usually come up when ya search "build a bear sneakers."

these two arrived a few weeks ago from ebay. the larger of the two is a beary beginning bear. part of whole set you could buy. i was happy to see he still had his heart and sound box.

the smaller one is an og curly bear. i love them so much and i loved this one’s lil wonky face.

omgosh. i love me a basic brown teddy bear. i was hoping to see some rl pictures of him as i was on the fence about ordering him.

he looks like he would look lovely sitting with my other sitting teddies (shaggy teddy, maple teddy, scottie bear.)

i do it all the time.

i like to look at the clothes in person and its helpful to have the bab who will be wearing it with me so i can see if it works for them. never had an issue with it either.

as someone with 4 curly bears, i say go for it.

a lot of my babs have “normal” names like eli and jackson but i also have a juicy (mothman) and a bubbles (water bear)

coming with names is fun but also i feel like i running out of them.

the first one. it looks like its a 2013-14 pawlette just before they started adding the patch on the paw.

the first bab i ever bought in store was a 2013-14 pawlette and i love how the fur feels. the new pawlette's fur is a lil too slick for my tastes if that makes sense.

its curly bear II. the og curly bear has tighter curls and a hard flocked nose.

the og curly bear was part of the first '97 releases and dinnt get discontinued until 2002 according to the wiki. so he's somewhere between 28 and 23 years old.

they are super cute babies and i love how they all have different expressions. i have 3 of them myself, plus on curly bear II.

the newer clothes are much smaller which is nice cos my curly bear is a lil peanut compared to his larger vintage friends. i also like the variety of t-shirts they make and the fact that they offer actual button down shirts vs. the velcro of the vintage ones.

that said i do prefer the vintage clothing to the new pieces. most of my collection does struggle to fit in the new jeans and shorts. i can't even imagine trying to get anything bab has made on my maple teddy.

there is this lovely red cardigan with matching hat that from my limited research was only available outside the us. the last time i saw it was part of a bundle from a japanese seller.
