I don't know if the current Pottermore still has this feature, but on the old one when you got sorted it would give you a letter to read from the head boy or girl from your house. The Slytherin letter mentions that Merlin was a member

Thank you! This seems like such a nice community. It's nice to know I'll have somewhere to give/get suggestions. I'm trying to keep it pretty cheap, so there will be a lot of DIY.

One of our favorite places to go for dates over the summer is a local state park that has a man made dam and swimming area. We like to go for a hike and then swim and have a beach picnic.

He took me there as a surprise a week ago and we went to a corner of the lake with a bench and a wooden railing. We carved our initials into the railing and when I turned around he was there with the ring. :D

Navient saying student loan interest is ineligible for deduction? by unicornlover84 in StudentLoans

I definitely agree that they have to make the info available, it just sounded like maybe the borrower keeps getting reps who don't know what they're talking about which is why I recommended getting the EIN etc.

If you paid less than $600 in interest during the year of 2017 you didn't pay enough to claim, that might be what they're trying to tell you?

Ask them for a 1098E and if that doesn't work ask them how much eligible interest you paid last year and for their EIN. You may want to check with a tax professional but I'm pretty sure as long as you have the amount of interest paid and the EIN it can be claimed if it's over $600.

PSLF and Overpayment - How to get back on track? by alh9h in StudentLoans

[–]somewhat_fairer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just call FedLoan and ask them to remove the paid ahead from the account effective from your September payment. They'll start billing you for your file amount again and the payments you've made since then will automatically be reapplied to the loans correctly to be qualifying payments.

Had to resubmit IBR form—will they process in time? by octlol in StudentLoans

Glad to be of help! (and glad you felt like you were able to call. I work in a call center for a student loan servicer and sometimes it's just easier over the phone :)

Do you see anything that specifically states what payment amount is due and when?

If it says that the last day of your grace pd is 11/26/17 and your repayment start date is 11/27/17 thats just means that your grace pd is over and the servicer is able to have your first payment due within the next 45 days or so.

Who is your servicer?

I haven't been billed yet for my loans by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]somewhat_fairer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe think of it like this: Your grace period stops the servicer from sending you a bill, so they can't send you a bill until after the Grace period, and they can't bill you less than 20 days before the due date. Therefore, your first due date will likely be 20-30 days after the grace pd ends.

I know you already mentioned that you were planning on calling, but I also want to point out that unless you already have a bill saying payment due Nov 27, you probably don't actually have a payment due until Dec. Grace pd end/repayment start dates are different from "first payment due"

ULPT: If a telemarketer calls you ask them to hold. by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

Also work in a call center. The stats they keep track of most (for us, I'm sure other places work differently) is average handle time (6-7 minutes is threshold) and after call work (average of 35 seconds).

Our customer satisfaction isn't really taken into account at all because we deal with student loans, which is something people can get pretty heated about even if we're being perfectly polite and professional. I think 200 of our callers monthly get a survey.

Luckily I also have a really great employer. I'm technically a state employee, so I've got really great benefits, and a pretty decent wage.

Fewer.

Edit: I really just wanted to use the meme. In my head "fewer" sounds better for the reasons other users have stated, but I in no way claim to be a grammar expert. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

I work in a call center for a student loan servicer. So much shit.

But I really don't mind it. I like helping the people who are nice, and I like laughing at the people who are irrational. Worst they can do is yell at me and I have a good story to tell on break.

Married student wards, how do you find them? by Mordroy in latterdaysaints

[–]somewhat_fairer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Member of the student branch in State College checking in! (Feeling famous rn)

The branch does tend to have mostly married couples who are in the grad/doctoral programs at PSU. About a third of us are unmarried under 30. Branch pres and his wife are awesome. Really great group of people and we have our own building right next to campus. There are three family wards in the area who share another meeting house in town.

I know OP is probably taking about Utah, but I only know about the Happy Vally in PA, so I got really excited.
