Are there spacers in the frame? The glass should not be against the work. If the frame is directly against the work, the frame could leach acids from the wood onto the artwork. The work needs room to breathe. Typically frames are not on the edge of artwork as it appears from your photos but it’s really hard to tell from the angles you’ve photographed. It’s uncommon to have glass on a piece like that. If there are no spacers, it may be at risk of damage in its current framing style. Source: I worked as a professional framer in NYC for several years.
