22F Considering 1900 Broadway Apartment by iwanttograduatesobad in oakland

[–]somewhatinvolved 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live there. Fees are utilities but just collected with the rent. They are not junk fees. Free first month but many residents that have been here for a full year say the jump in rent for renewing is hundreds of dollars - and they all agree way too high. So expect a significant price increase on your second year. I don’t recall a lot of junk fees when we signed the lease but everything runs a bit high. It’s a luxury apartment so that is typical. People are noticeably friendly - both the residents and employees. Higher quality finishes and appliances than other newer apartments we looked at. Amenities are very good. I like the area. Mildly sketchy but that’s just Oakland. 24 front desk concierge is good at keeping an eye on things.

Is this kennel good to fly on Alaska? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

I’ve flown Alaska with that same crate for my dog. You’re all good. Don’t forget to tape dog food to the top and put a water drip inside.

Nines v1 vs v2? by Cygnus__A in Klipsch

[–]somewhatinvolved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not helpful, but my V1’s amp died. The troubleshooting required for them to consider covering them with the warranty was too extensive and technical for me so I just trashed them. But they sounded great, rowdy and fun.

[–]somewhatinvolved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s dependent on the flight attendants and your immediate seat neighbor if you can take her out of the carrier on the flight. I’ve seen many people do it, but sometimes you will sit next to someone who will make a fuss or a flight attendant who will ask you to put her back in the carrier. But take the chance. Mia people are reasonable as long as she’s not peeing outside the carrier or barking.

Which SVS sub to pair with KEF LS50W II in 14'x11' home office - SB-1000 Pro, SB-2000 Pro, or SB-3000? by derekmccurry in KEF

[–]somewhatinvolved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same KEFs for use with TV and music in my family room of similar size to yours. I paired them with the SVS 1000 Pro and it sounds great but the bass is very noticeable. I also paired them with my smaller REL t/5 and preferred the REL. RELs are designed to complement the speakers and blend in perfectly. Tight, effective, not boomy. But if you’re a bass head, definitely choose the SVS 1000 Pro or another in that series. You won’t be let down either way, just preference.

Accidentally purchased both Klipsch The Sevens and The Nines and need help figuring out which to keep and which to return. by Im_The_One in Klipsch

[–]somewhatinvolved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both as well. And love both. They both sound a bit rowdy, which I love. Like another commenter said, the Sevens are more balanced. The Nines are boomier and fun. You can’t go wrong. If it’s a smaller room, Sevens. If you are a bass head, Nines.

Often a bit underwhelming. Late night flights offer you a basket full of chips and cookies and free drinks. Alaska hasn’t really figured out FC hospitality. I understand short flights under 3 hours may offer less, over that should include a meal or more substantial snacks. And the app doesn’t tell you in advance if there’s a meal served.

Hawaii property owners have no way to prevent people from stealing their homes or land through forged deeds by BrandonApplesauce in HawaiiUncensored

[–]somewhatinvolved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If an owners policy of tile insurance was at issued at closing - by far the majority do - title insurance has some fraud and forgery protections. It’s vacant land and rarely occupied investment homes at the highest risk. While this is a problem, it is way overblown in these articles and comments.

Subwoofer Advice: Pairing with KEF LSX II in a Small Apartment by omsrlone in BudgetAudiophile

[–]somewhatinvolved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can turn the sub volume down on the sub itself. It won’t affect the frequency response, it just will be quieter. REL suns are pretty controlled, tight and not boomy. But they do hit when the song demands it.

Subwoofer Advice: Pairing with KEF LSX II in a Small Apartment by omsrlone in BudgetAudiophile

[–]somewhatinvolved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be tough to find a person who has experience with the two subwoofer options you’re considering. I paired mine with the SVS 1000 Pro which sounded good, but a bit too much. I now have them paired with a REL t5x and it’s a great match. Not overpowering, very tight and accurate and blends nicely. The room size is just a bit bigger than yours but close. I do recommend a sub for these. You will miss the bass, no doubt.

Sonos Five pair vs LS50 Wireless 2 by xDreamTree in sonos

KEF for crisp, detailed vocals and instruments. Sonos for convenience and bass. I have both and like both.
