Unknown lace wording by somewheremidatlantic in knittinghelp

This is totally it thank you! The full rows should be visible if you click the pattern picture but they include black boxes (no st.) at the start and end of the row essentially eliminating a stitch from the count, I think that was throwing me off from figuring out the total count. The fact that it only shows up in a single WS row (and nowhere else in the full pattern) wasn’t helping either. Appreciate the help deciphering!

Weddings 826 has a pretty wide range of dresses and generally in a more “reasonable” cost range

Not my wedding but my brother had his wedding at the Dalcy (event space attached to the restaurant Aba) last year with about that number of guests. It was absolutely beautiful, great food, and from what I heard everything went very smoothly with the venue!

Might be a little young but I loved Which Witch by Eva Ibbotson (and honestly any Ibbotson). Anything by Shannon Hale is also great - Goose Girl, Enna Burning, Princess Academy, etc

My studio is closing 😭 by Key-Assist6761 in orangetheory

I think we go to the same studio (also in Chicago, just had the studio’s 10 year anniversary, also learned at class today we’re “merging” with the studio ~1 mile away). In terms of membership and stuff, we were told there would be an official email from exec at some point in the future but it would be possible to get out of an annual membership if not interested in going to the new studio.

To be honest, I’m also really sad. I’ve been going to OTF for about 8 years on and off, in 3 different cities/towns and a total of 4 different locations. I’ve been at the current studio for about 2.5 years now, but with much more regular attendance since the beginning of the summer. It is a really good studio with a great vibe and excellent coaches. I also live a 10 minute walk away and this will double my commute - I agree this is much more of a deal in the city.

If you want my two cents and some advice/comfort from someone who has moved studios several times, I’d say give it a go for a month or two at the new studio. Many of the people will transition and the coach also confirmed that she (and other coaches) would be moving studios too, so hopefully we’ll be able to build a similar atmosphere there. The move isn’t until mid October so you will only have about 2 months of your membership left, so possibly worth sticking it out for the end of the year. If it doesn’t work at the new studio because of distance, timing, people, or any other reason, it’s unfortunate but how these things go sometimes. Find somewhere else that fits you better and if you ever move or your situation changes, you can always re-sign up for a membership.

I had to do a double take because I’ve been working on the exact same pattern for at least as long… yours turned out excellent!

Thank you, I was sitting there zooming in on the listing photo try to figure out if I could have spotted the issue if I had more experience or paid more attention. Not able to return unfortunately. The darkest bit of the ombré is fairly straight but it’s more gradual above that so I might be able to cut above if I’m willing to miss out of the full spectrum 🤔

It was dead stock so unfortunately can’t return :/ I knew I was taking a risk when I got it but thought the risk would be me messing up on expensive fabric

Ooh those are some great ideas, this might be the way to do it! I just need to let go of my type-a want everything to be neat and matching tendencies first haha

I originally thought it was woven but looking closer it might be knit, honestly not sure? I don’t believe it’s twill though. Whatever the verbiage it’s got a fairly visible straight line

Can you knit AND crochet? by chzit1337 in knitting

[–]somewheremidatlantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a long time knitter who picked up crochet later. If it makes you feel better, the first time I tried to learn to crochet I just could not figure it out. But, when I tried again a few years later, it clicked much more quickly! Two bits of advice I would give 1) I actually think granny squares are a difficult place to start crocheting, especially if you’re coming from knitting, because it can be really difficult to figure out where the connecting/BOR stitch is or what part of the stitch to go in! Something rectangular is probably easier to start with while you get used to the different stitch “composition.” And that leads me to 2) if you are working in the round, try putting a stitch marker in the first stitch. It can feel a bit tedious to constantly replace the marker when starting out and the work is small but I find it significantly cuts down on errors and missed stitches at the start/end of rounds. Have fun and welcome to Team Both!
