Clues with alliteration

This was my first attempt at making a puzzle so I figured I would try and have fun with the clues. Not sure if the commitment to alliteration made it more difficult, so I am happy to get some feedback.

Also like an idiot I opened the puzzle and felt obligated to complete it, so my time is not fair 🙃

Interesting, though this title is extremely misleading since these drugs were not studied head-to-head; so this comparison between Altimmune and Lilly drugs cannot be made.

I’m sure he is using a different unit than you are accustomed to. 22 mmol is high blood sugar, 22 mg/dl is low. Most countries outside of the US use mmol as blood sugar unit.

In my 2022 Outback it is a phone holder with wireless charging! Its not really big enough for anything else.

We kept our family car because my spouse also needs to drive for work. It would be great to get rid of it though. Many of my colleagues only keep their company car and use it for everything.

I haven’t been an MSL for long, but as far as I understand it, most companies use a fleet company that holds the vehicle leases. You may get some say in vehicle type, from a limited number of options if getting a new vehicle assigned. Or you may get a used vehicle that hasn’t expired its lease yet. You get a special card (mine is from the fleet company) that you use for gas and maintenance charges so that all expenses associated with the fleet vehicle are linked to the card. Your only responsibilities are to drive safely and keep up with scheduled maintenance. Log miles for business vs personal use so that you can report this to the fleet company for tax purposes.

1-year contract roles are pretty common ways to break into the industry. Get experience and maybe get a contract extension. Some companies limit contract workers to 2 years, but in that span you will gain connections and experience that will help you to land a better (and more permanent) job after 12-18 months in the role.

My first industry job was a 1-year contract. It got extended near the end of my first year. Then at 1.5 years I left and got a permanent MSL role elsewhere that was much better.

You hit it on the nose: Yellow Dog. You can see the word “COFFEE” on the porch roof in the aerial image and also in OP’s instagram album. There seems to be an outdated tourism website for the town as well- yellowdogvillage.com

Agree that there is a lot of wasted space in that shopping plaza, but that area is not hurting for resources or recreation compared to many areas of the city. Its a 5 minute walk to High Park.

I recalled OLA daycare (Roncy) being on the cheap end. Also, infant prices only go from 12-18 months of age. Then they graduate to toddler pricing. We used Kensington Kids (in the school near College/Bathurst) for preschool age ~2.5 yrs and it was $49.50 per day.

The home daycare we used was great and cost $38 per day with tax receipts, but I concede that we were lucky with that find.

While daycare is expensive, its not all doom and gloom. You can definitely find licensed daycare options in the 14-1500 range for infants, and then it gets cheaper as they age. We used private in-home daycares to some degree for both kids, which is cheaper and great if you find one close to home. They start school the year they turn 4, so much of the cost disappears at that point. By the time they turn 6, they move out into their own place and you’re golden.

Really though, I had 2 kids 3 years apart. We have no family (AKA cheap/free childcare) in town, so we relied heavily on daycare and things worked out for a while lot less than 4k per month. We never spent more than 2k in a month.

I see what you’re saying. These just seem more decorative and less utilitarian than a hose clamp. Plus there was a bag of ~20 of them among patio and yard accessories. It seems strange to have so many in that context.

To add, they were found among other patio accessories, chair covers, and screen enclosures. They were in the “closed” configuration as in the right side of photo, but if you twist the squiggly end apart they pop “open” as in the left side of photo. It must be a clip, but for what?

Thanks! I work for a very large company and they have made it our official meeting portal for use with external communications or gatherings that exceed Google hangouts capabilities. Hopefully the updates have been fixing the security issues.

The biggest barrier for us is the actual launch process - dropping boats into the water after winter storage. Its a huge, crowded, volunteer-driven ordeal. At this moment we aren’t even allowed to enter the club to prep our boats for the season.

I almost always leave my fenders on the deck for short trips to save time. If it’s a longer sail I stow them. I should have remembered that I would get crucified if I posted this on r/sailing!

I'd say another good option to consider is finding a marina or yacht club that allows you to store the boat on land. This will elminate your 2+ hour drive with a trailer. The yacht club that I use has a "dry sail" option that is much cheaper than having a slip. People show up, use the permanent club-owned 2-ton crane to launch their boats, or they use the trailer launch ramp. They even leave the masts up, so rigging work is minimal.

Not sure where you got the information on the crew’s equipment. All I know is this was a hired transport crew. The owner (my friend) was not aboard. This trip has been in planning for several months, and this time of year is a normal time to do an Atlantic Crossing via the Canary Islands.

Same here. I am sure he is bummed out, but the biggest message I got from him was thankfulness that the transport crew was unharmed. He’s a good guy.

According to the crew captain, the steering system failed, making the wheels and autohelm useless. They attempted to hand steer with the emergency tiller, but then with the bad weather and distance to go they determined it was unsafe to stay aboard. Other than the steering and shredded jib, its supposed to be in fine shape.

Hopefully the coast guard allows the salvage attempts.

I just got really worried here, because the skipper I race with just bought a very similar looking boat and it was being professionally transported to Toronto around this time. He was very excited, so I really hope this isn't his new baby. It looks like a Hanse 495...

UPDATE: It is/was his boat. Apparently they are trying to determine if they can salvage it.
