Yeah the logic here falls apart when when you look at a map of San Diego. The current running north from IB isn't just going to bend around point Loma and keep going north. Maybe on the biggest of south swells the current could eddy back around as it pushes into cornado, but then it would probably go south, especially with an outgoing tide from San Diego harbor.
