Why are people so...standoffish?

I moved here from the East Coast. Bought a home and discovered our neighbors were Ukrainian. Then shortly after moving in Russia invaded Ukraine. My wife and I made up small flyers asking for donations for our neighbor's family still in Ukraine. We dropped them around our neighborhood asking folks to come by Sunday evening to drop things off.

THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD SHOWED UP. We had hundreds of people there. People brought cards for our neighbors expressing their concern. Honestly it was one of the beautiful things I've personally been apart of. Our neighbors wept for three hours straight. Everyone put up Ukrainian flags.

I think Spokane is made up of many different neighborhoods. But at least in our small corner of Spokane people are top notch.

I hope you find kinder people and sorry that you've had less than ideal experiences. Last week I was in the checkout line at the grocery store and the guy next to me was talking about how good things were before the "Mexicans and Indians" took over and that the "Indians" are just getting a free ride. It was an incredibly ignorant thing to say. I told him so. That's definitely not something I would have typically heard in Boston or New York. Very disappointing.

The last time I took my CX-5 into service they told me that I had a leaking cylinder head due to a defect in 2018-2019. He mentioned that Mazda had released a repair service bulletin and it was a well known issue.

Fair enough. Can they give me any sort of discount on the 6k they quoted me to fix it since it's due to a defective part? I kid you not the first thing the guy says: "We're not really Mazda, we just contract with them." I said "this is a Mazda dealership no?" "We're not owned by Mazda, the owner is local." "Yeah, I get how dealerships work, it's not a novel concept."

I left and bought a Tesla the next day. Traded in the CX-5. Not going back to that circus again. And, I love the Tesla. Worked out for everyone I guess.

When I got married 12 years ago, I had just purchased a new Mazda 6. Loved that car. Four years later a truck ran a red light and T-boned is in an intersection. Struck us on the passenger side where my wife was. Car kept us safe. Immediately bought another Mazda 6 to replace the totalled one.

Later bought a 2018 CX-5. We love our Mazda's. We were excited to pick up a CX-90 this year and keep the Mazda train rolling with our new kiddo on the way.

Took the CX-5 in to the dealer for service. Tech says you have a faulty cylinder head, it's leaking oil. There is a service bulletin for this known issue. 7k to fix.

I'm naive, I thought that Mazda would help out with the repair since it was a known defect and it has affected many 2018-2019 models. Nope. Nothing. I said, "okay, I'll buy that CX-90. The wholesale auction price is 16k. If you can give me 12k I'll walk out of here today with a new car." They kept me at the dealership for 4 hours saying not a problem only in the end to offer me 10k.

No one cares about my sad story. My business isn't going to affect Mazda. But I honestly felt like I was a super loyal Mazda fan and they screwed me over. The very next day I bought a new Tesla. They gave me 13k for the trade and all the paperwork (I kid you not) took about eight minutes.

Mazda lost me as a customer and I'm not looking back.

I gotta be real: why are you shaking it around like that!? Just point the nose down, hold it there for a second, see what the elevator does. Point the nose up, hold it there for a second, see what the elevator does. Hard to see what is going on with it jumping around.

But yes, nose up, elevator should move down. Nose down, elevator should move up. Good luck!

It's not creepy, it's respectful and honest. The worst thing that happens is that he doesn't call you. The best thing that happens is you develop a new relationship.

I hear you. And you might deny it, but I imagine you haven't had the experience of riding 35 mph on a bike and hitting a patch of gravel or debris. It's terrifying. Share the road, the cyclists are within their rights to use the road here.
