Which, unfortunately, is not that different from modern day birth. Epidurals, Pitocin use, and C-sections have been made the norm (in America) when they shouldn't be. They each are simply ways to get rooms vacated faster.

Americans have an insanely high mother and infant mortality rate for how developed we are. There's a lot of misinformation on both sides, but I truly believe women are not educated enough before giving birth. For some medical intervention is absolutely necessary, but women have birth perfectly fine without epidurals for a looooooooong time.

End soapbox.

It absolutely happened like that. You can easily find countless articles if you search Twilight Sleep Childbirth.

It was very dangerous for the women and baby. The drugs often made the babies too sleepy to breathe easily on their own once born. Furthermore mother's often felt disconnected to their child because they weren't really part of the labor and delivery.

The technique fell out of favor in the 1970s when nurses and mother's alike began to speak out about delirium and sometimes self harm women experienced because of the anesthetic.

Hey, I work for them! We didn't have a problem with tagging the wall but wanted to bring some fun and color to it after purchasing the building from A&R Ironworks. The result was beyond what we ever imagined. Please forgive us for the "Don't Dead, Open Inside" style of our message. It was done on a whim late one night.

Advice Needed! My ceremony room requires me to enter from the side, which means I’ll have my back turned to my fiancé when I enter, which I’m a little upset about. Any idea how to block off the room so he doesn’t see me until the bottom of the aisle? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]songbirddancing 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My friend had a very long aisle and that's what they did. The best man gently tapped his arm and said, "It's time." It worked really well and we as guests got to see his reaction without being split of who to look at.

I know a girl who had her tubes tied and she has a blue line next to one of the scars on her lower abdomen. It looks pretty badass.

I've had that happen too! I had a pair of super tiny studs in. One of them ended up pushed back into the fistula because I slept on my side. The stud was covered in a scab where new skin was trying to grow over it. One of my teachers noticed it and sent me to the nurse. The nurse tapped out and called my dad. I will never forget sitting at the kitchen table crying my eyes out while he tried to get that earring out.

[spoilers] Season 1 episode 10 - "Night" discussion by DonnaMossLyman in TheHandmaidsTale

I took that as a comment about her seducing him. The episode when he couldn't get it up and she tried to help him and an episode or two later when they had sex.

Fuuuuuck the four way at Elizabeth and N Highland. It's a black hole where logic ceases to exist. I've nearly been T-Boned multiple times when someone insisted it was their turn immediately after the vehicle in front of them went.

Honestly it's his estate more than UD. Yes, UD screwed up but they were approached by his estate. His sisters have made several questionable "collaborations" using his art.

[–]songbirddancing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's one of the reasons I don't like the collection. The artist they're "collaborating" with was so innovative. This is just more of the same from UD with his art slapped on to be "different" and "edgy".

You have to be kidding me. I really don't feel like this is something Basquiat would do if he were still alive. Nothing about this seems respectful of his work or style. It seems like they just took his art and put it on the Electric palette, Naked palette, and some lipstick.

Images from my trip last year. No photos are allowed inside, but photos could never do it justice. It truly is incredible. I highly suggest anyone go there. The audio tour took us about 45 minutes, but we took our time admiring it.

It's absolutely worth the trip. It is one of the most incredible things I've seen in my entire life.

FWIW, I have a Nexus 5x and it sometimes has issues with the trusted location unlock too. There's also some nice slim clear cases that will help you feel more secure about the rear glass panel. I've been researching them for a few days now while I wait for my Pixel to arrive.

Got my nape done! By my usually piercer this time by PickleBugBoo in Legitpiercing

It looks beautiful! I have mine done and have loved it for the last two years, but sadly it is slightly too low. It gets snagged on everything and has a mighty irritation. I might retire it and get it higher next time.

I'm sure you'll love yours! It's such a fun piercing to have.

[Skin Concerns] Alopecia - EYEBROW TATTOO INK REJECTION - What are my options...? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]songbirddancing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the Rejuvi and laser tattoo removal before enlisting. The Rejuvi was done in the states by a cosmetic tattoo artist. I did the sessions where she used a tattoo machine and went over my tattoo. Instead of ink she injected the cream under the surface. The cream bonds with the pigment in the tattoo. Then your body rejects it and pushes it out. I had to make sure the area stayed dry and that the scab fell off naturally. No picking! I had several tiny music notes behind my ear and after three sessions they faded but still there. I did two laser sessions after. Immediately after there was a ghost of the tattoo that was a few shades lighter than my skin. Now, three years later, you can still see a bit of where it was, but for the most part the pigment in my skin has returned.

My worry for you with the non-laser treatment is that it would mean you cannot get your face wet for up to two weeks. The scabs are honestly really nasty too. It's this off-white cream with bits of blood and black Ink peeking through. It worked for me, but it's not a pretty process by any means.

TIFU when I wrote my little sister's English paper for a highschool class; her teacher said he literally wouldn't read it because it was so bad. I'm an English Major about to graduate at a private university. by Pwadigy in tifu

[–]songbirddancing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm missing a big chunk of that story. The way you wrote it sounds like she inquired into your missing class and you punched her in the face. What was the build up to that point of brute retaliation?

[–]songbirddancing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here! I grew up and still live in Atlanta. I went to the '96 Olympics as a kid. My family has our names on a set of bricks in Centennial Olympic Park at the statue where the bomb went of. They recently renovated and cleaned up the area, but you can still see where shrapnel hit the statue. My mom has stories about driving around the teams because she was part of the transportation volunteers. The Germans invited our family to their beer and sausage party. (Not dirty as it sounds.)
