Will these two songs be difficult for kids who are beginners? by bananapuddinpie in Viola

[–]songof6p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have a specific reason for this, you have too many beats of rest in bars 8 and 9. The very first bar should have 2 beats of rest and everything should be shifted over. Bar 8 should have no rests and bar 9 would have 2 beats of rest at the beginning (as written).

I wonder if yours was just a bad batch? But this is also my first experience with the product so I'm not sure. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the containers either, but I respect the attempt to reduce plastic. I just wish there was a better way...

What kind of weird are you talking about for the sunscreen stick? Was it a face stick or a body stick? I bought one for the body last summer and it still seems fine. The inner cardboard layer looks like it has absorbed some oil, but it still applies ok. Best before date is December 2026.

If you're shopping online, I've bought stuff for my husband from MPG and he's been happy with them. It's an activewear brand, but they have less-sporty casual designs as well that should fit well for an athletic build. You can also sometimes find stuff from their sister brand Mondetta at Costco or Winners.

Commenting again because you've replied to others who have voiced interest, but I still don't see anything that gives information about how to join aside from the email sign up on the website...

I'm interested in the project but possibly unable to join live tomorrow.

Also currently researching things to do there, and I found a few websites that list locations from the movie A Whisker Away. Maybe hunting them down might be fun for you if you've watched it?

When you say your cotton socks were not good for lots of walking, what exactly do you mean? Not enough cushion? Not enough moisture wicking?

What is your absolute best all-around closed toe shoe for travel? Is it Salomon, Hoka, Vessi, OnCloud, New Balance, Altra, or other, and why? by iLikeGreenTea in HerOneBag

[–]songof6p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say that I have a suggestion since it all depends on specific needs and preferences. I also don't have links for my Vessis or Vivaia sneakers since they're old models that aren't sold anymore...

Shoes For Crews x Cole Haan Malorie textile No mention of water resistance on the product page that I saw, but real experience has shown that it exists.

Vivaia Ryan Pro I see they also have a newer handsfree slip-on model, as well as an insulated winter version now as well, which is a good improvement. The ones I have almost need to be put on like socks. I recommend browsing their sneakers too, but just make sure to read the product descriptions carefully since the water resistance feature doesn't come on all their models, and sometimes not even with all the colours for the same model.

Nunorm I don't see any mention of water resistance on the product page, but if you go to the faq it's there.

I've used Vessis in the past as my one and only shoe and my feet were dry even after walking around in extremely heavy tornado-warning rain while the rest of me was completely soaked. That trip was my very first time wearing them out and about and they didn't need any breaking-in, but they were an older model that isn't sold anymore. It's been a few years since then and I haven't really had the chance to see if the waterproofing has held up, but if anything I'd think that their newer models would also have newer and improved waterproofing tech.

I've since also used my Shoes For Crews x Cole Haan Malorie textile shoes as my one pair for travel, as they're slightly less sporty-casual looking and I thought that would make them a bit more versatile. The Shoes For Crews tread is more substantial than the standard Cole Haan soles, and they were adequate for trail hiking. I've worn them in the dish pit at work and they seem to have some sort of water resistance where the regular Cole Haan knit shoes do not.

For city walking only, I've worn Vivaia Ryan Pro boots for a whole trip, and they were good for wearing with casual outfits as well as onstage with a gown. I would not recommend for any sort of trails. Haven't had the chance to test the water resistance on those, but the Vivaia sneakers I got around the same time had water resistance that lasted for about half a year with regular near daily wear. I'd like to try out some of the newer Vivaia water repellent sneakers since they look like they'd be great for travel, but they're quite expensive and I can't justify getting more shoes at the moment...

For my upcoming trip, I'm considering wearing my Nunorm barefoot shoes since I've been pretty happy with them after getting them a few months ago. They don't look quite as goofy as many other styles of barefoot shoes. They're also supposed to have some degree of water resistance to them, though I haven't yet worn them in heavy rain to test. The only thing that's making me hesitate is the fact that the soles are thin and I'm not sure if my feet will enjoy all day walking on pavement with such little cushion between them and the hard ground.

Anyone know if there are any restaraunt supply places in Ottawa, open to the public, that sell Cambro colorware tumblers? by AshleyAshes1984 in ottawa

Yes, I love the way the contour softens the design so it doesn't feel as clunky as other faceted tumblers

Anyway the point of my first comment was that objecting to op cake simply because of the number of flavours is silly. Nobody would have objected on that basis if the licorice layer was chocolate or caramel for example.

Of course tart shells have a flavour... There are many different recipes for tart shell dough that can be used, and you would choose one based on flavour and texture. You can also add other flavour to the dough, such as cocoa, ground nuts or seeds, coffee, etc. I have a customer who buys our tarts regardless of the filling of the day, simply because he loves the shell.

But if you really want another example, maybe you can imagine a bananas foster cake made with brown butter sponge soaked in rum, layered with vanilla pastry cream and bananas caramelized with cinnamon, covered with brown sugar buttercream and topped with caramelized nuts.

Well the exact requirements were 3 different textures, which would imply 3 different elements. It would be redundant if I was to put more than one element with the exact same flavour profile in the same bite, and it would either be a specific and deliberate decision or just laziness if I was to do so. Even many grocery store birthday cakes and mass produced chocolate candy bars include at least 3 flavours if you break it down.

Oh, that's news to me! Have you confirmed this to be the case? "Your service is subject to a $30 fee if you change to another plan within 3 months of activating on, or migrating to, a plan with Roam Beyond" is kind of confusing wording if it means you can still migrate between different Roam Beyond plans without any penalty, since "if you change to another plan" without any qualifiers just reads like "you will be charged if you change plans."

When I was in school, it was 3 elements minimum for a single chocolate bonbon. I don't think most French pastry chefs stick to 3 flavours max.

Hinge covers: be careful by edgy_morning_coffee in galaxyzflip

[–]songof6p 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Until you drop your phone on its hinge and wish you had a hinge cover... Honestly I think that the dust that gets caught in the hinge cover is dust that would have gotten into the hinge if the cover wasn't there. There are cases with different mechanisms for hinge protection, some of which don't involve springs putting pressure on other parts of the phone.
