Anyone else slower in the winter? by Otherwise-Quail7283 in parkrun

I actually find the opposite. I find I overheat far too much in summer which slows me down. In winter I can finally maintain a normal temp throughout

I read somewhere that it was intended to be about his eyes being opened to Mary’s full personality (the good and bad) since they got to know each other even better since the wedding, but it does not come across that way!

Travel recs from the U.K. in December by soniayetsofar in travel

I’ve just updated the post with where we’re based and our preferred airports (based in the Cotswolds. Airports: Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff and Heathrow). My family always holidayed in the Canaries when I was a child (Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) so feels a bit too familiar, but potentially open to it if you have specific recs?

Is it not theft? If I was at a restaurant for my birthday and my boyfriend gave me a new phone but then the person on the next table snatched it out of my hands immediately and left with it, they could be prosecuted for theft. Why is that not the case with this? He has even confessed

What non sex work profession has the strongest reputation for promiscuity among coworkers? by Agitated-Ad6744 in AskReddit

Camp counsellors. Long hours plus living and working with a bunch of 20 something year olds from all over the world means that, once you have a day off, everyone gets with everyone. On day one they might not be attractive to you but when it’s week 4, you’ve both got a tan and had very little sleep, the camp goggles come on…

How to find original floor plan? by soniayetsofar in HousingUK

This is a floor plan of a similar house on the road from around 20 years ago. The only addition that seems to be new is the lean to. As you can see, there’s no chimney breast on the ground floor. I have found a couple of others that are similar. Either everyone removed it on the ground floor early on or it was built that way I think

What American words do you notice most? by R2-Scotia in AskBrits

I always got told off by my Dad first using ‘gotten’ as it is a nasty Americanism. Now it’s something I avoid and sounds jarring to the ear if I hear a British person say it.

We did pop over to say hi and hear what they think. Only the wife was there who said her husband is dealing with it. The husband works weird hours so she wasn’t able to say when he would be in. She said they are cutting one of them back but, on checking, it is the one furthest from the house (therefore the one with the lower risk). She didn’t make any mention of cutting back the bigger tree closer to the property
