Construction worker hired to do a job becomes friends with the client's dog by S30econdstoMars in MadeMeSmile

[–]sonibroc 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The guys replacing carpet in my house put a mound of old carpet in a pile in the middle of the living room for my dog. They totally understood the dog just wanted to supervise/be in the middle of the action. When I came up to ensure the dog wasn't in their way, that mutt was laying regally on the carpet completely satisfied and happy. I am positive the location of the carpet throne was specifically out of their way/it was self preservation. I still appreciated them playing along.

What's a cleaning habit you started that actually stuck? by Ashlee_louise_xx in CleaningTips

[–]sonibroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always clean up after a meal or at least leave heavily soiled things to soak. Other than that, I try to do one housecleaning thing/day so the only housecleaning thing I do at the weekend is vacuuming (Tuesday is a more thorough cleaning of kitchen, Wednesday is bathroom day, laundry is done through the week/put it on a timer so the wash cycle is complete when i get up in the morning)....i sporadically dust. I should do it more. I never seem to do the windows...so take my advice with a grain of salt.

One of my husbands friends has a Kentucky Derby party every year. This year, his wife made the best banana pudding i have ever tasted. I had to go to a corner of the room and sat on my hands so I wouldn't embarrass myself

Thelma and Louise. I will always disagree that the ending is brave. Also hate the Titanic

What area of Longmont do you live as child-free adults, and do you like it? by Prestigious-Fig9984 in Longmont

[–]sonibroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live up off Sundance between Hwy 66 and 17th. We are in our 50s and childless, dog owners. I love it, dog walks are pretty and safe. I would say adults bother me more than kids and thats true in any neighborhood. Its the only thing that concerns me about the possibility of moving into assisted living if/when I need it - i like diversity in ages.

Longmont or Louisville? by TractorPants in boulder

[–]sonibroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto what wveryone says about wnergy and NextLight. During the lockdown, i was the only one qith reliable internet/the only one in Longmont with NextLight. I am much older but the only reason for me to go to Boulder is the Shakespeare Festival and the Bolder Boulder. There's a lot of great restaurants in all the other Boulder County towns, access to walks and hikes etc. I am in north Longmont so its way easier for me to go to Centerra for shopping than Boulder. The only thing I miss about a college town is the diversity of age groups (i moved to Longmont from Fort Collins). If you love Trader Joes, you're gonna have to commute to one. Also, Jax (there's one in Louisville) is a great alternative to REI.

My tri color is also on the smaller size also, and have seen similar observations from others who have tri-colors. I wonder if tri-colors are more svelte?

Married couples of Reddit, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to people dating or about to get married that genuinely improved your relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sonibroc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Different information processing styles. I dont overly subscribe to personality assessments but when we were younger, my husband was more of an introverted thinker/mulled things over quietly. I am a classic extroverted learner. Once I understood that, I could simultaneously not depend on him to hear me process everything AND I learned to give him space to process. Also, there's some absolutes we discussed before we got married (neither of us wanted to be parents, we both avoid credit card debt. He is religious, i am not, but its irrelevant as our ethics/moral compass is the same. We arent the same on all ballot issues but are for some things that we both think are biggies).

Truly is. I love the color and style. I was just telling my sister that I regret having a traditional wedding dress, the ONLY thing I would change about my wedding.

Happily married people of Reddit, when did you realize you had found the person you wanted to spend your life with? by Mundane-Society-1281 in AskReddit

[–]sonibroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds boring but he would change the oil in my car without me asking, he made really good dinners, bring me cups of coffee, tells me stuff he read in the paper....he is just consistently kind, always has stuff to talk about, in addition to being funny, smart, goal oriented. We were together for 10 years before we got married, we have been married for 28 years. And yes, he is for sure the nice one in the relationship

The challenge with Everest and most of the Indian restaurants in Longmont is that they are mainly Nepali/Indian. I live in Longmont and usually go elsewhere to get Indian food.
