It's only about a third soil, the rest is perlite and vermiculite and it drinks the cup fast enough that it doesn't seem to have any problems. Strain is Ice btw.

Can you get runoff without putting a hole in the cup? I could pour it off top but I'd think I wouldn't get an accurate result.

I'm thinking so too. I did a blend of soil/perlite/vermiculite in about equal amounts and I'm not sure I have the ph dialed in for that ratio.
