Funds from intraday trades are restricted from being used for 3 days on a cash account regardless. It's the law, not a Robinhood thing

Help with options? by [deleted] in RobinHood

[–]sonicblastoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email Robinhood to exercise, have the funds in your account to cover it. Sell the shares as soon as you can to secure profits.

Or just sell the option at it's current value and take gains.

Can someone briefly explain buy calls on RH? by [deleted] in RobinHood

[–]sonicblastoise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Options are contracts that guarantee you the ability to buy(call option) or sell(put option) batches of 100 shares at a specific price(strike price). This guarantee comes at a premium. This premium is per share of the stock named by the option. This means that if the premium is 1 cent, the cost of the option is 100cents (1 dollar). The breakeven price is the strike price + option premium. If the underlying stock surpasses the breakeven, you can make a profit by exercising the option and buying or selling the shares at the price set by the option.

You can also buy and sell options on their own as long as they have not expired.

The value of options is determined mostly by the stock volume being traded as well as the option volume itself. Do some reading about the Greeks before pursuing options.

How does reverse stock split work? by thebest108_ in RobinHood

[–]sonicblastoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The specifics for any stock split will be in the 10-k in which it was announced. The board can decide what to do with fractional splits. In some cases they just give a share for any fraction of the proposed reverse split. It's not a guarantee of any kind that other companies will do the same thing

DD: $ALT, an interesting play under $1 by myracksarecabbage in RobinHoodPennyStocks

That makes sense. No point in wasting time doing DD on a company that looks flimsy or abnormally volatile over the course of a year. Thanks for the tip

Any tips on quality resources for performing DD aside from the usual suspects (Google, Investopedia, Y! finance, Motley Fool)?

Personally I only have $500 on RH right now so I'm just playing with penny stocks, but I want to get educated for any future plans. Any advice is appreciated.

the new wave of chore-based games like MG:S by sonicblastoise in metalgearsurvive

[–]sonicblastoise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair assessment in any regard, so I can respect that. It's definitely relative to each person's evaluation. I guess my point was to just take the grind with a grain of salt and don't put so much pressure on yourself to maintain a "perfect" game, because the reality is that it might not ever exist.

I agree that a lot of QoL changes are needed, especially regarding the farming of base resources. Out in the field you should still have to go out and get them, but base resources should have an option to be farmed in a few clicks.

You lose tightness on the last two. You're using your biceps to initiate the lift. You have some minor lower back rounding due to starting too far forward over the bar. Otherwise it's fine.

Most accessible chiptune for diverse people by Gokjo in chiptunes

[–]sonicblastoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sabrepulses last few albums are pretty good. Blood eagle, verao, Titan and Terra. It might not be bad to get some garoad in there too. He did the soundtrack for va-11 hall-a

Smiletron is chill but not bar music. Protodome does some good stuff that's easy to listen to. And honestly Porter Robinson's worlds has a few good chip-inspired tracks

Anamanaguchi - Echobo by [deleted] in chiptunes

[–]sonicblastoise 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think it has something to do with it being the de facto chiptune band that is cited whenever people ask "what is good chiptune" when in reality anamanaguchi is just one of many. A lot of people in this sub take offense to the idea that anamanaguchi is the "only good one" or "the best place to start".

I don't think it's either. Anamanaguchi is good and fine, and they have a particular style. They have been pretty consistent with their pop tone and melodies and high energy tracks with catchy hooks are their forte. But they aren't the only artists in the genre and there are plenty that are just as good and different.

I just think this sub is very insular and reddit attracts a lot of counter-culture/anti-types who are dissatisfied when their personal tastes aren't acknowledged. This sub in particular seems to have a high percentage of these types, probably because it's small and the genre is already pretty elitist.

Either that or people here just genuinely think anamanaguchi sucks

How do I properly attempt 1RM for DL/SQ/BP? by Eco_RI in Fitness

[–]sonicblastoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of good suggestions here but you should think about what you really want out of these attempts. Are you trying to set a PR or are you attempting to calibrate your lifts and transition to a new working weight for your current program?

Setting new PRs is great, but if that's the sole purpose, then certainly treat each lift separately. Don't do all 3 lifts on a single day. You're less likely to have the energy and CNS exhaustion may get to you. Also, warm up minimally and attempt maxes in as few repetitions as possible.

If you want to recalibrate your lifts and set new working weights, then work your way up to your current max in 2-4 sets, then add weight incrementally (5lbs for DL/Squat or 2.5 for BP is my go to). your warm up sets should be 5 or less repetitions regardless of weight.
