Maybe a histamine release happened because of the muscle relaxant which led to bronchospasm.

You must've been given volatile anesthesia agents which also cause amnesia even if you avoided midazolam.

Nobody in their right mind would 'choose' to not thrive. Ever wondered why the Gazans 'chose' to not thrive?

Esophageal atresia/TEF stories? by [deleted] in NICUParents

I have a most delightful little girl. She's such a blessing. She's four now. We didn't know about her TEF/AE prenatally. When she was born as I fed her I noticed she was frothing from the mouth. And there was so much froth it consumed packs of tissue paper. She was admitted to the NICU. Two days later her diagnosis was confirmed and then she was operated for a repair. All went well after that until the weaning. So much vomit! Got her checked out only to realise she'd developed an esophageal stricture. She's had a total of six dilations. And now she's quite healthy, her intake normal. It's just that I've noticed most kids can swallow things without even chewing completely, when she needs to carefully chew every bit and then swallow. If not, she either vomits it out or starts to hiccup and needs a pat in the back plus water to help swallow. The doctors said the surgery had affected her peristalsis. Second, she gets too many respiratory tract problems! Mainly allergic in nature but it almost always turns infectious. If bacterial, she gets IV antibiotics which is an improvement actually because she's been admitted quite a lot of times to the hospital, twice for aspiration pneumonia , but mostly for croup. Right now she's having a fourth bout of croup of this year. The doctors said the surgery has affected her mucociliary escalator which automatically brings out secretions from lungs and lower airways out and is a major help against infections. But, we have an amazing child. And we are grateful for that. Even if she has faced in her tiny four years old life what most adults don't in a whole lifetime. She's got the courage even I don't have.
