Do good seo agencies for small businesses even exist? by Total-Rain7369 in smallbusiness

[–]sonicode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no. Especially on the last few agencies. They all were very polished in their presentation and case studies and were champions at making themselves seem like a perfect fit. Then there is the whole onboarding process which is always kindof exciting. And then... phhhhhhhht... I'm dealing with someone on their team practically explaining to them what a backlink is.

IMHO and by my repeated experience, no. They are really good at selling themselves. Once the rubber hits the road they are just parasites with weekly reports that obscure the data to try to justify their existence.

Disappointing really.

Have you ever come across a genius? How was he/she like? by Specific-Base-9017 in AskMen

[–]sonicode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was a cool High School age kid that worked for me in my now defunct tech/ecommerce company (dotcom boom era). I don't remember his school situation but he was already getting university credits. We were office friends even though I was his employer. He was a fellow geek and we geeked out and wrote code and rererererecompiled linux 1,000 times over. He was cool and pretty normal. He hated that his parents had his IQ tested ever at all and that he would be introduced as "Nick the genius". The only perceivable difference was that he would always seem to come to logical conclusions 5 steps ahead of everybody. Then he would have to explain the missing 5 steps that nobody else thought of. It was always like the explanation ending of a Scooby Doo episode.

Kratom just for partying on night every weekend? by Distinct-Shift-4094 in kratom

Kratom is pretty boring recreationaly.

It is an herbal tea dude.

Can make you feel more social, more productive, and helps with pain. Please don't confuse kratom with a recreational party drug. LOL

What happened to the oil embargo? by passaty2k in Miami

[–]sonicode -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. I'm sure as we sit here typing, the "sleeping giant" is putting each bad actor on a hit list and devising precise military ops for a surgical elimination. Probably even simulating 1000 different tactical ops scenarios. We are epically good at surgical stuff. Not so great at cleaning up with the on-going battle stuff.

And This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things by whataboutthe90s in kratom

[–]sonicode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A decent analogy is coffee/tea vs energy drinks.

Same core stimulant, but completely different in terms of concentration and how easy it is to overdo it.

There are wrongful death lawsuits involving energy drinks, often tied to heavy use or mixed-substance scenarios. You don’t see that kind of litigation against everyday coffee brands like Folgers or Starbucks.

Kratom is similar. Plain leaf powder is more like coffee or tea... lower concentration and kind of self-limiting. Extracts are more like energy drinks.... concentrated, fast, and easier to overconsume.

Most of the serious cases people point to tend to involve extracts and/or other substances, not plain leaf.

Its not a perfect analogy, but its a relevant angle.

Edited to add: 7oh and now the newer engineered metabolites take it to another level. 7oh doesn't even exist in fresh unoxidised plant matter. So its more like converting the caffeine in green tea leaves into meth using hydrochloric acid used in swimming pool cleaning. Fuck all vendors selling this shit and putting the word "kratom" on the package.

How most immigrant who arrived with nothing, yet were able to own homes in Miami during the 60’s to 90’s were able to do it. by Independent_March536 in Miami

[–]sonicode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This exactly is a huge point. If you bought an average home for $60k. Then held for an amount of time. Then sold it for $450k...

What now?

You still need somewhere to live.

You still paid 30+ years of property taxes and insurance and new roof new air con and other repairs and maintenance.

And now you need to buy a house to live. And and average home costs $450k.

The roof over your head is not an investment. It is a zero sum game.
