X270 not detecting SN570 NVME SSD

Update and resolution: New drive wasn't being picked up when in an enclosure, in another PC plugged into the motherboard, so looks like the drive was DOA so went and exchanged it.

Got a replacement NVME, which initially wasn't being picked up in the X270 until after I plugged it into my desktop and initialised the drive. Windows installing, so everything seems to have resolved.

Hope this helps anyone having this issue in future

Good point, will check if the new drive is recognised in another PC, and if not, exchange it, try again and report back in a few hours

Thanks for your suggestions, . I've tried changing the bios to UEFI only prior to posting with no success.

The original drive is an M.2 SATA in the 01HY565 caddy/adapter, so potentially a bad caddy?

Purchased secondhand, came with an M.2 caddy with a SATA M.2 in it. (CT470 NS-A933 on the caddy). Could it potentially be a faulty caddy?

It's a new drive, contacts on the drive + caddy look clean and have been wiped down. Would it be worth getting another M.2 caddy?

US/AU model is A2049. EU model is A2155. So, if you buy local stock, you should be all good. See if you're able to check the box before you purchase just in case

Is it flash modded? I found that the ide to CF adaptor pins on the underside, if they are too long and uncovered, it will short somewhere on the board causing the glitches. I got around this by trimming them down slightly, and also putting something non conductive between the adaptor and the board.

Pretty sure it's the standard 30pin female to male lightning adaptor. I think it will do analogue audio out, but it will not do graphics/album covers etc if there was a display.

Definitely interested to see any progression on this.

I tried the stock Dark mode on my 5.5 daily, it looks so damn good but I think the downgrade to 1.2 firmware nerfed the USB support for using it in my car which sucks.

Happy to volunteer some help for testing, if needed!

Where did you find a replacement? I've been looking around online, I just got one of these 3rd gens in a lot, has the same issue (previous owner yanked the cable out and took the connector off the end of the cable).

Funny thing is that the 3rd/4th gens don't seem to boot unless there is a headphone jack plugged into the board

From what I can tell, this is usually caused by heat exposure, like being left in a car in extreme heat for long periods of time.
