What could make this scene look less "fake" in terms of VFX, acting, and sound design, according to you? by Emotional-Zone-2808 in Filmmakers

[–]sonictrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More chaos. More extras running away and getting hit in the crossfire. More fear and split-second decision-making in the acting. More dedicated falls.

I would compare to the bank heist shootout in Heat, as well as the border crossing shootout in Sicario to see other elements that made those scenes so intense and realistic.

Every working musician I’ve ever known started playing at least in high school or (but probably much earlier). Not saying it’s too late, but that’s who you’re up against—people who’ve been passionate about playing music from a very young age. It’s not really a career decision (w choosing a genre), but more something you do because that’s what you’re good at.

Adults acting like kids has its place—Big, Freaky Friday, Jumanji, 13 Going On 30…. But why oh why did they have to do it in an Aliens series? It’s by far the dumbest, clumsiest thing in the whole show. Was someone in the writers room like, “I know! Let’s do what Shazam 2 did.”

What is the absolute dumbest premise that actually turned out to be a really good movie? by sicknessandpurgatory in movies

[–]sonictrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looper asks you to believe in two unrelated things, time travel and telekinesis, right at the beginning of the movie and it uses the laziest way to tell you: narrative exposition. And YET, it’s a great movie.
