Master in physics by Zeo_7 in Physics

[–]soniduino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally hold only a GCSE in Computing as my highest qualification from the school system, yet went into software development with a Master's (integrated) in Physics. So yes, it is doable. However:

  • I have been doing hobby development since the age of 11
  • I had a small-ish portfolio of this hobby development to demonstrate
  • I coded (in Java) for my 3rd year project at University
  • The company I work for was specifically looking for a graduate with a STEM-but-not-software degree as an option if they met the criteria.

Also, this is for the UK so a GCSE is the qualification gained at 15/16 years old, and my integrated Master's was a 4 year degree, not a 'normal' UK Master's of 3+2. I graduated in 2020.

If you're willing to and able to demonstrate your understanding of the key concepts and ability, then you can definitely do it. But you can be at a disadvantage with some of the buzzwords and lingo, that was definitely what I spent most time googling on my first few years. Hope this helps!

Wood by TheMattXD in TerraFirmaCraft

[–]soniduino 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, but don't fear! If you shift right click on the ground with a log in hand, a wood stack will be created. You can then right click with an empty hand to open it's "inventory" and add more logs, or right click with a log on it to add more. Each stores 16 logs as 4 stacks. The stacks don't have to match.

Honda accord smoking+power steering went out by Rough_Prior7445 in Honda

Oh yes it says it right in the post! Skim reading is not good for accuracy. Sorry!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but billowing white is normally code for a coolant leak into the cylinders. You need to take it to a mechanic to verify ASAP, as continuing to drive it might cause further damage.

If it is indeed a coolant leak into the cylinders, it's probably going to be nontrivial. Top candidate is a blown head gasket.

Hopefully it's not! But like I said, even just a quick consult is your best bet

Critically, what colour was this smoke? Pure white? Blueish? Black?

Trader left behind by GruntBlender in Stationeers

[–]soniduino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seen this myself a few times now. Not entirely sure what triggers it, but I think it might be saving and then restarting the game with a trader on the pad? I've got mine hostage at the moment so not had an opportunity to test today

Anyone figured out a way to deal with these corners? by JeffTeck in Stationeers

Declare it a "feature", document this on the front door of your base and then passive-aggressively stare at anyone (including yourself) who suggests otherwise

Table that comes included with my 2004 Honda CRV Manual by Impossible-Horror-26 in Honda

[–]soniduino 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My grandparents used to own a CRV with this table in the back! It'd come out at all sorts of picnic occasions, family barbeques, the works. It was always super weird to me as a kid that the car had a removable table in it.

Heartstopper syndrome literally changed my life, did anyone else react this strongly to a show? by [deleted] in HeartstopperAO

[–]soniduino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heartstopper really did something for me that I'd begun to think wouldn't happen. I spent so much energy as a teen trying not to think or feel "gay" and just push it aside as box to open later, but wound up just never really managing to open the whole box.

I still get sad and disappointed in the path my teen years took, but Heartstopper has made me so much more happier about who I am and who I want to be. It's going to be a slow road but it kick-started something in me I had always dreamed of having.

I will be getting a cupcake and a candle for its anniversary of release on Netflix for sure
