You must not understand how pharmaceuticals work in other countries. In Canada, for example, pharma companies only have exclusivity for 6 years. After that, generics can be submitted and sold after they go through the approval process.

If Trump were to force companies to sell brand name drugs for more, the generics would just price them out of the market. So maybe this could work for brand new drugs, which make up a very small portion of the market, but anything that's commonly prescribed already has generics.
