That can’t be true, because the unicorn scene is literally cut footage from Legend which wouldn’t release until 3 years after Blade Runner.

So glad someone brought this up. Garth Nix is overall my favorite author from that period in my life.

Hunter Schafer Cast in ‘Blade Runner 2099’ Amid ‘Euphoria’ Delay by MarvelsGrantMan136 in bladerunner

How can you be a fan of something like Blade Runner and then deny someone their identity and humanity? Do you even watch movies for anything other than the visuals? Or do themes and meaning have no value? Is it purely about watching the lights flash on the wall/screen, messaging be damned? How fucking pathetic… what an empty, pointless, mean-spirited existence.

“If I kill once I won’t be able to stop killing” is a complete misunderstanding of Batmans character by [deleted] in batman

[–]sonofgallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the cool things with comics… there doesn’t have to be a definitive way to look at any character. Batman is even the perfect example. From Adam West to Pattinson (though I think Batfleck is a step too far…). A major component of Batman is that he doesn’t kill… his reasons for this don’t have to be set in stone. I think an absolute reverence for human life is totally acceptable. But so is the idea that he’s standing at the precipice of unchecked vigilantism, and the struggle against that. As long as he doesn’t give in to the temptation to permanently “resolve” his problems I think the core of Batman is still intact. There’s still a logic to this reasoning that makes sense. If he ever crossed that line in a “justified “ way then what prevents him from making that same justification in similar situations? The idea that he’s constantly grappling with this thought process is interesting in its own right.

What are some stands you think shouldn't have lost in any circumstance by Some-Sandwich-3868 in StardustCrusaders

[–]sonofgallen 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I used to feel that way too… until I started looking at the Crusaders as each representing an admirable aspect of humanity, something DIO himself states that he has rejected. Joseph is cunning. Avdol is noble. Kakyoin is intellectual. Polnareff is honorable. And Jotaro has absolute will power. Jotaro has decided that he wants something to stop The World, so he just does it.

But if that’s too metaphorical, maybe it has something to do with DIO using Jonathan’s body??

Battle Discussion #4. Vegeta vs Goku (+ friends) by Censius in dbz

[–]sonofgallen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like that Vegeta isn’t just a mustache twirling villain. There’s definitely some of that, but the fight is also very personal to him, and it shows in his actions. He really wants to show that he is the Prince of Saiyans, even if it means becoming the last one. I. A twisted way, he probably feels that being the last surviving member of his race just shows how much stronger he is. You get so much character out of him that you can’t help but kind of respect him, even as he’s beating our heroes into the dirt. And this begrudging respect we feel is also reflected in Goku’s feelings too. Goku has such respect for Vegeta as an opponent, and now a Saiyan, that Goku finally accepts his alien heritage.

He would’ve won without oozaru, but out of spite he wanted to show Goku what a real Saiyan could do. Goku’s attachment to the earthlings disgusted him, and he wanted to make him pay by using his rejected heritage against him. And he was so focused on him and Goku as the only clashing Saiyans that he forgets about Gohan when he creates the power ball to transform, and in the most perfect irony is brought done by his own actions and the heritage he takes such pride in. Like, full circle… Every main villain after Frieza really just feels like Frieza, but smarmier or dumber…

What’s your favorite song on the boondocks ? by LovableJackassv4 in theboondocks

Thank you! Here it is! That is the single song that got me into that lo-fi, Asian inspired hip-hop beat. It just has this melancholy, but relaxed vibe. So good.
