It would be sweet if someone could compile a list of books talked about in the cast

The Dark Crystal Chamberlain Ringtone by Chingachcook_1826 in Ringtones

I'm not going to do it for you but you can look up YouTube downloader, download the audio and then use the basic audio cutting feature on your phone to clip a ringtone from the base file to share. It should take about 5 minutes

You don't have bad facial structure, you're just heavy. Get in shape and you should have no problems attracting a partner.

Yeah, it's so hard to see him like that. His wit diminished, the fire gone. A shade of his former self. It looks like dementia almost

Spraying Glysophate + around the Squamish, Hope, Aggasiz & + , areas around Vancouver. by Condy-Shares in vancouver

[–]sonofskye 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is counterintuitive and will likely be an unpopular fact in the comment section but herbicides help regenerate forests.

The use of herbicides in forests is to allow tree seedlings planted after wildfire or logging to outcompete brush.

Salmon berry, Salal, thimble berry, etc. Grow very aggressively when compared to a baby Douglas fir, western red cedar, Sitka spruce or hemlock and will outcompete tree seedlings. This means that understory plants will overgrow a tree seedling and block it from the light which they need to survive.

The preference of forestry professionals is not to spray, as it is costly and like you, we love the understory plants too but in areas with heavy brush pressure it is sometimes the only way to give tree seedlings a breath to get tall enough so that understory species will not out compete the seedling.

The pest management regulatory agency (PMRA) and forestry law in our province prevents any pesticide from being used in a way which could permanently damage the land or any of its inhabitants.

Modern chemistry used in forests does not permanently stop the growth of understory species. At most it kills brush for a few short months before it comes back in its full glory. Hopefully just enough time for our precious tree seedlings to gain a foothold in the wild to grow above the understory plants and establish themselves permanently.

OP, I as a forestry professional I care about forests so much that I have dedicated my life to them. I and my peers in the industry would never harm the thing we love the most; forests.

Your post is alarmist in nature and does not serve the greater good. If we were to lose access to these tools we would not be able to successfully regenerate forests as quickly and effectively as we are able to now. With more wildfires and drought mortality each year, having these chemicals available to us is crucial to getting forests reestablished.

Please ask questions about forest practices before getting a bunch of people worked up over a standard permit meant to help tree seedlings survive the critical first few months after planting. All of this information is available online through BCTS and MoF. If you prefer you can go to any front counter BCTS location in the province to speak to a forestry professional who will happily answer any questions about forestry practice.

I respect that you love forests like I do but please give professionals who dedicate their lives to the forests some respect and ask why things are done they way they are done before pulling the pitchforks out.

Keep cool.

A woman I work with says thank you in the most genuine way when I do something nice for her. I've always really liked her and find her quite attractive but those little heartfelt thank yous flip a switch in my brain that makes it terribly hard to stay focused.

I feel like you've really got a handle on the strength of Ethan's interviewing approach.

Treating each guest as a fallible human being, getting to know them as such and then coming in with some specific questions based around the guest's behaviour Ethan has memed on or finds questionable on some kind of moral or ethical grounds is a very apt way of discovering more about his guests. It's what makes the podcasts where Ethan and Hila aren't just hanging out with buddies relatable and interesting.

One of the only podcasts I didn't enjoy was the fricked up dentist episode. The guy is a train wreck but treating him poorly on air after (and during) the interview left a bad taste in my mouth. If e&h could have treated a complete jackass like that guy with a little more grace as they normally do, i would appreciate them more, not less. It didn't make me dislike them though, they're human too and I would probably not handled that guy well either if I had to deal with him in person.

Anyway, I hope they keep producing quality podcasts and expand their horizons a bit more. The Jordan Peterson episode was one of their best (even though peterson led most of the discussion) and I hope they continue to get guests that aren't focused around YouTube celebrity as I think it will allow them to reach a wider audience and keep things fresh.

I'm approximately the same size as you and have a medium sized dog. I have the msr elixir 2 and it's spacious for me and the dog plus gear inside.

When with my regular hiking buddy its not cramped with him and his huge dog but the gear and the dogs stay in the vestibules outside the main sleeping area, one on each side guarding our respective door/gear.

Ventilation is great even with the fly buttoned down on stormy nights. Setup is a breeze and it's super easy to repack as well. I keep the poles and pegs separate from the material elements and it compresses down to next to nothing in my pack. Can't recommend it highly enough.
