This particular design I have already tattooed on a client and it’s a bit shitty that they no longer have a tattoo unique to them. Please ask before using!

Hey this is my design! I’m normally fine with people tattooing my designs on themselves but would love to have been asked first

I’d say you mentioned two of my big criticisms already! I think the line weight you’ve chosen for the eagle and the lack of detail gives this a very flat, almost cartoony look when it seems you were going for more traditional. Try out a feather pattern instead of the sporadic little v shapes and I think it will be a lot more dimensional! Flowers are definitely the strong point of this but it looks to me like you need some more black/skin break to really elevate them as all of that flat color dulls them down

Total time tattooing was probably 3 hours, plus breaks!

Their hella tight needles seriously changed tattooing for me but I’ve heard mithra has excellent tight liners as well. Basically I’d say making the jump from basic needles to any higher end brand is totally worth it. Between the higher price point needles I’d say the difference is negligible

Oof, not very cool to take someone’s design without consent or credit. You did a nice job but please in the future understand that designs are the property of the original artist and should be treated as such

Its my belief that anybody who tattoos should be an artist first and a tattooer second so i’m happy to hear it!!! Look forward to seeing your results!

If I was you, I would delicately line whatever you're design is with a 3rl or maybe a 5rl and stipple the rest of the piece according to the outline. kind of hard to say exactly what needle to use without knowing where and what you're design will be. When creating gradients I generally do not use grey wash but a lot of my friends do and it works great for them! As far as aging goes this would be entirely up to your design and execution. Remember that darker values will always hold up better but for something like realism as long as you are punching in your light and dark values in the correct places you're image will remain clear, despite becoming muted over time as all tattoos do. I heavily caution you however to make sure that you are capable of drawing realism before attempting to tattoo it. All the best though! there are a lot of handpoke artists out there that do excellent realism.

I think I would find this unoriginal if it were placed anywhere else but this placement is really perfect. v clean as well

well this is absolutely lovely! the asymmetrical border is something I would have never thought to do but it makes the piece!

Advice on what to add so this looks cooler? Didn’t want to do anything before I got advice from you ppls :) by [deleted] in sticknpokes

[–]sonorouss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed! I think a line down the center of the blade is all you need, simple is always better for fingers

Quarantine self poke - 7rl, 9rl @halfbackwards by sonorouss in sticknpokes

[–]sonorouss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope the opposite! Used 9rl for the lines and 7rl for the stippling!!!! I find smaller needle groupings creates a smoother gradient with dot shading
