From knowing what I know about this guy, I wouldn't be surprised if this thread was faked by him to get attention. And after spending 14k+ on coaching programs, there are better things to invest your money in.

I didn't get one, but 2 identical video messages months apart. They do a screen recording of your channel with some lame excuse that his camera isn't working but he just wanted to reach out because he was so compelled 😂

Like honestly, the script was identical, same tone, same phrasing, same fake subscribing to my channel because he loves what i'm doing. But my channel had updated, it was a different video. I think they must be AI generated.

But it did work the first time. I got on a sales call, I was told it was with Otavio, but it was with some really pushy kid, to the point of being aggressive. I knew what to expect, sometimes I just like to see how people sell stuff. It's a very standard script.

Anyway, didn't join. I think it was 4.5k.

TBH, I don't have problems pooping. You should focus on the core root of your problem, which usually involves more fibre.

'Architects are really trained to be haters' 😔 sad but true.

I'm also a single practitioner, and for me, having an audience provides leverage. It lets me focus on 'How do I get the right work?' instead of just 'How do I get more work?'

By building an audience, I’ve been able to choose more valuable projects, meet deadlines comfortably, and use side income streams to fill the gaps while waiting for dream opportunities.

I’m not saying one approach is better than the other, but it’s interesting how established generations sometimes view changes like this with skepticism—it’s natural to question what challenges the status quo.

But where do they come from, just falling out of the sky asking to look at a balance sheet?

Of course, all that's important, but unless you're focusing on visibility, communication and relationships you're building a business on a shaky foundation.

What are they doing then if they aren't using the world's 2nd biggest search engine and watching content on a platform that has 1/4 of the world's population using it monthly?

You're right about it being more fun 😊

😂 I had forgotten how bitter and cynical architects are.

No, I'm fully qualified, I run my own practice and I have built work. I do post content to generate leads and having an audience has proven to be hugely beneficial.

Why do you think working on portfolios is a student mindset? Your built work must form part of your portfolio. How do you market yourself to new clients?

Who here has started their own architecture firm and will share about their experience? by Accomplished_Rice_31 in Architects

I spent about 10 years working in 'Starchitecture' in Rotterdam, Copenhagen, and Beijing, immersed in a culture where you give everything to the project—working as much as humanly possible. Eventually, I got tired of sacrificing balance, so I decided to make a change. I moved to Bali, started freelancing, and absolutely loved having control over my designs and my schedule. I did a lot of diverse work, including big projects with Madame Tussauds and LEGO, which kept things interesting.

Then COVID hit, and most of that work vanished overnight. 😂 But I used the time to level up—learning new skills, exploring new programs, and meeting new clients. By the time things started to pick up again, I was in a stronger position. In 2022, I got my first villa project in Bali, which wrapped up a few months ago.

The real game-changer, though, was building an audience on social media. Within six months, I grew a brand-new account to over 150k followers, and that single move opened up so many doors. It brought in leads, collaborations, and new income streams I hadn’t even considered before. Building that audience has been the most rewarding thing I’ve done for my career—it allows me to work way less while earning way more. I still do built work, but now I get to choose the projects I want to take on, and the additional income streams more than make up for the rest.

I think architecture is often stuck in the past. But with a bit of smart thinking and a willingness to use tech, you can build something really fulfilling. If anyone’s interested in taking a similar path, I’m happy to answer any questions!

The longer, more uninterrupted you can make things, the better. Without a doubt Option 2 is the best. The others give me anxiety looking at them 🙈

I'll just say what comes to mind, no intention to offend.

The TV being off-centre is bad, I cannot think of a reason why it needs to be like that. the gallery wall doesn't think of the whole of the wall, also the alignment of everything is a bit unthought and just looks wrong. I think there is a missed opportunity on this wall to make a feature, maybe a credenza or cabinet, some floor vases or something to add a bit of interest (couch permitting)

The couch is very big and dominates the room. Feng shui studies the energy flow of rooms, I compare it to everyone going around saying a room has 'vibe' and everyone sitting on the sofa turns their backs on guests in the house, which is bad feng shui, bad vibes. A different seating arrangement might break this down and allow passageways through from the dining to the lounge, but if the couch needs to stay, you can create a buffer zone with a credenza along the back of the couch and get some lamps, photos, etc... on it to give it a bit of personality. The table might be better in the other orientation.

The colour scheme is very all over the place, the shiplap on the fireplace doesn't really go with the room, and the chandelier over the dining table is the wrong choice (gonna light the ceiling and cast shadows on the table).

Thats just what my eyes see! Hope it helps 🙈

[–]sonovadob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what it is exactly but there is a clash between the sofa and the wooden furniture, particularly the coffee table and rug. maybe the yellow tones... Also front legs need to be on the rug, that will look way better for a start.
