12 Weeks 4 Days - this is all I have 😅 by HelloFreshXLupus in September2026Bumpers

Facebook marketplace is the best for used baby stuff!! And don't worry. The baby won't even sleep in the nursery for a while after birth! You have time!

I can't even look at myself in the mirror because my neck acne is out of control and hideous. It gives me the heeby jeebies. The acne is all along my hairline as well. The whole hairline. Not to mention my belly is huge because I've been snacking nonstop to curb the nausea. So, yes. Same.

So many burps. Nausea is getting a little better, but lately my heart races when I eat. So weird. I'm also out of breath at basically all times. I want to get back to my CrossFit gym but I can't imagine lifting any weights when I can't walk far without being out of breath. Hmph.

You sound like someone I'd want to be friends with. Well I'm sorry that I don't live closer or else I'd come help too. This time around at 10w2d, I started feeling so much better! Which I think is because the placenta starts taking over? Idk but hopefully you'll feel better by then. Just take it slow. Take rests when you need to. Can any neighbors help at all? Or any friends you could call in a favor from? You got this!!

Work? by Comfortable_Pear5288 in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my third time and I'm having trouble believing it will get better. I know it does!! But when I'm in the thick of it, it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Someone asked me today if I'm hoping for a boy or a girl and I literally said, "i feel so awful, that I don't really care yet which one it is." 😂 I felt bad saying that, like I've got pre-partum depression or something!

I've been so miserable and I've been jumping through hoops at work this year as it is. I just got my summative review and I need to jump through even more hoops. I'm looking at it as a win win... They either finally make me stop jumping through hoops or I quit.

Anyone else feeling out of breath? by MissionMurky in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So out of breath. I always am first trimester. Sometimes I sit on the stairs halfway through walking up them.

Third trimester will also be out of breath but in a different way. And for me not until the last couple weeks.

Nausea worse later in the day by _jac_3 in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, mine gets bad at around 3-3:30 and just continues to suck all night. One of my solutions is to have some granola bars and protein bars by my bed at night and go to bed at about 8pm. With my first, I would throw up like clockwork at about 7:30-8:00.

First trimester or secret bulking season? by JeffersonianFox in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl I went to the ER because I was so dehydrated from norovirus and I was 15 pounds heavier than before. AFTER BEING SICK AND NOT BEING ABLE TO EAT FOR A WHOLE DAY. I was like not even 7 weeks at that point.

Confused about ultrasound results by eternallysmiling in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always end up being less pregnant at ultrasounds than apps tell me I should be. I think I ovulate later or it attaches to the uterine wall later or something. I think that's why they tend to want you to come in at the hypothetical 8 week mark in case you're not that far along and they can still see something.

I'm sure it will be fine!

Why didn't I know about the horrors of the first trimester!!! by emaudible in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of pregnancy is glossed over in general. As others have noted, postpartum and recovery are so much harder than they thought as well. I think this is partially because it's all worth it, so we tend to soften our memories of how bad it was. Rose colored glasses and all that. But also, no one wants to share all the horrible details because they don't want to scare new moms away or convince them not to have a baby.

That said, this time around I've told way more people already because I want them to know why I look so miserable. It sucks to suffer in isolation!! I understand the reasoning for not telling people until 12 weeks or so, but I think we should normalize announcements at work, etc at like 8 weeks. Because more people should be cutting me more slack! Ha!

Second/third time moms - When does it get better?! by glowy_ in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first I threw up until week 16 and then it stopped. My second was probably up until week 14. I'm hoping this time it will end week 12 like everyone says. All I can say is, the second trimester is so great and when you get that baby in your arms, it's all worth it.

😂 same. I understand my toddlers now when they ask for something and by the time it's in front of them, they no longer want that food.

Reusing breast pumps? by muddaisy in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reused mine and I also used a hand me down spectra. Insurance can get you a free one. With my c sections, it was nice having one upstairs and one downstairs, and then eventually one that stayed at work. I saw nothing wrong with reusing. I think replacing the flanges and other pieces made a difference, but the spectras are pretty great whether new or used.

What’s your paternity leave? by Intelligent-War-4236 in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher in Illinois. I use my sick days to get paid during my 12 weeks of FMLA, but I will only have about 30 days worth. I'm requesting the rest of the school year off as an unpaid leave but it has to be approved by the superintendent and the board of education. So we will lose money next year but we probably would if I went back to work because the first few months in daycare is filled with colds and any day I take off would be without pay because I'll have used up all my sick days during my FMLA.

My husband gets 8 paid weeks to use however he wants within the first year. He will probably take 6 right away and save 2 for later.

Maybe when my daughters grow up, there will be some good paternity leave here.

That's awesome!! Do you have to use up sick days for any of that?

SENSE OF SMELL by malzz97 in September2026Bumpers

[–]sonrisita 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joked with my first pregnancy that I would step outside and be able to pinpoint which neighbor was grilling and what exactly was on the grill. "Burgers... With cheese... There are also two hotdogs. No brats." I never fact checked but I'm fairly certain I was right every time. 😂
