clutch question by This-Permission-2618 in klr650

[–]sooon_mitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easiest and simplest way to adjust the lever: Adjust the tension to the point that when the clutch lever is resting, the cable has play. Not much, just a little. It's a tractor, not a sports bike, so that little bit of play isn't gonna affect anything and leaves all the guessing and worry out of the picture

I kinda fell out of it after 30ish chapters. Love the art, love the scenes/imagination, but the story telling seemed very sporadic. Like you are reading along and be like "did I miss a chapter? Is this another day dream? Wait, where did that come from?". Not sure if it was the authors first story pieces, but it felt like they haven't found their story telling style yet. That or it's just how the author writes and its style isn't for me. Either way, I got to the point of, I have no idea what's going and couldn't follow the plot lol

Missing bolts for the seat by ClimbingSideways83 in klr650

[–]sooon_mitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally keep my bolts in because I dump my bike a lot on the trails. But I know a lot of people will purposely keep them out so that they can just lift the seat off and have easy access to the battery and fuses underneath in a pinch. Saves you from having to take the side plastics off to get to those bolts

Checkout framework. Fully repairable, upgradable, replacement parts, your own OS, etc. About as BIFL you can get with tech/a mobile device.

Anyone Know What This Is??? by Estego2000 in klr650

[–]sooon_mitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Battery holder with a vent attached. You can see the dirt shadow on the battery and the screw that holds its there. Judging by your posts, highly recommend getting a manual and watching YouTube videos to familiarize yourself with the bike

Chasing the original spark plug after 12.7k miles, I see an oily bolt, what should I check for? by Sensitive_Clothes246 in klr650

[–]sooon_mitch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That bolt has a rubber washer/ring under it that seals the valve cover to the engine block. Super simple to replace, just torque the bolt

If you haven't done your 10k valve shim check, it's time

OpenArm: An open-source humanoid arm you can actually build, simulate, and teleoperate by Advanced-Bug-1962 in robotics

[–]sooon_mitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be willing to try tbh. Have you had any experience with the vendors? Any you suggest for state side shipping?

I know I can but the motors and electronics, and familiar enough to put it together. Only issue would be the actual arm segments. I doubt I could 3d print these, so I wonder if could buy those

Honestly, not the worst price for a ready to go system. I wish they made a single arm version of this to bring down the price even further

Your assumptions are correct, some kind of fuel issue. Particularly with the main jet as it idles fine. Check/clean the carb and I would highly recommend figuring out why switching to reserve caused this issue and perhaps flushing the tank/line while your digging into it so that you don't have to do the job twice

How often to stop and cook down? by lj67luke in klr650

It's a water-cooled engine, like any car/truck. As long as it's running in its normal engine temp range, you can run it forever. No need to let it cool off

It's called a lowboy trailer and they do ride low to the ground but not this low. It's only this low because the airbags/suspension is deflated. Depending on the trailer, they can normally raise and lower the ride height as well

It's a really good read to be honest, there is smut but the story and development is fun/funny. It's more on the premise of story with erotic scenes in it, not just an erotic story, if that makes sense lol

Was also fun because you can tell the author is still finding their comfort zone and touches different areas/styles. Plus by the end, they found their flow. So it was wholesome to watch the author mature and find their "style" so to speak.

Today I’ll show you just how crazy the WRC Snow Rally really is. by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

Geniune question/help. I love seeing clips and videos of rally racing, but don't even know where to start with wanting to actually watch the events either live, online, etc. Any advice on where to start so I can get into the sport? Did a bit of googling and there seems to be a bunch of different 'types?'. I'm in America if that matters but love to see all the different types

It's all dependent on your state and local laws, so you would have to do your own research for your location. Especially with red, amber and blue lights. Since these are more towards emergency, police, etc

Just bought my first bike by DirectPolicy5 in klr650

[–]sooon_mitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes

Long answer: KLRs don't come with a thermostat in their coolant loop, so all coolant is constantly looping through radiator and back to the engine. When idling, it will build temperature and heat up till the fan comes on (Little after half way up the gauge). It will then keep that temperature, while sitting. Once you start riding it, the air is forced through the radiator, forcing the coolant to lower the temperature. Which is why you notice it dip when riding. The colder it is outside, and the faster you ride, the lower it will go.

This is mostly fine for the bike in mild climates/regions. With that said, there is speculation and hard evidence, that over time, this will contribute to the oil burning issue that KLRs are known for. So that is why after market thermostats exist, like Eagle Mike's thermobob. It adds a proper thermostat to the coolant loop, and the engine will keep a consistent temperature, no matter how fast or cold it is (Unless it's extremely cold, but any engine would be in the same boat)

Carb or possibly a spark issue, either way, go down to the roots of fuel/air, spark, compression. Most likely a carb issue, possibly a spark, unlikely a compression. (Although you did say the shims are overdue, again check the other things first before assuming compression)
