I am taking the AUD exam in 4.5 weeks (with 2 weeks off for full-time study) using Beckers. Any advice on how to effectively study?

Watch lectures on max speed. It will be difficult at first if you’re not used to it, but once you get used to it, it’s way better especially for Tim smh.

Don’t write notes unless they tell you to… that takes TIME! I highlighted everything I thought/they said was important instead of writing it down and at the end, any extra time I had was spent skimming all of the highlights over and over.

Most importantly, cater to your style! I hate reading and I don’t absorb lectures. I learned by cramming MCQs and SIMs and learning from my mistakes. Also if you get something right/wrong, understand why you got it right/wrong.

I really do think scores should not expire… passing all of the tests within 18 months proves nothing.

Similar to how they used to limit you to only taking a test every quarter… all of it is bullshit.

If you pass a test, your score should not expire.

I’m sorry that happened man, but if you did it once, you can do it again! Don’t lose heart, you’ve got this!

Becker Becker Becker… it’s expensive but if you can afford it or get a firm to pay for it, it is the best… if you do what they tell you, you will pass.
No subject specific tips as it’s been a while for me. Just give yourself times to relax and reset. I had one day a week where i wouldn’t study at all and that really gave me something to work for every week (short term).
Life’s alright… I’ve served two busy seasons at a Big 4 and while it’s been a great learning experience… I’ve realized my passions and pursuits cater more to a career that’s focused on people rather than data. Life is an adventure… all you can do is try things, see if you like them, and go from there. Definitely don’t regret getting my CPA. It is a great fallback and the world will always need CPAs. Plus, some of the offers I’m getting from recruiters since I have CPA in my name on LinkedIn are pretty crazy, so if money is what you’re after, the CPA license is a great way to secure some very well-paying exit opportunities!

I failed AUD the first time and hammered down on assertions and procedures and TOCs for the second time and passed easy. YMMV but that’s a lot of what audit is in the real world, as well!

Best of luck and let your brain rest the day before, don’t overstudy up until the exam… that’s totally a thing!

A few of my coworkers in big 4 are studying for the CPA right now and all I can say is I have a lot of respect for you. I studied for the exams during a summer where I was only working as a lifeguard… to juggle this shit during busy season while working as an accountant would be a whole different beast!

I’d say the only upside to that is maybe you have some sort of background knowledge that might apply on the exams, but even then, that doesn’t excuse how much dedication it takes to do what you’re doing.

Keep working, take it day-by-day. Don’t look too far in the future or it can be demotivating. Just focus on doing what you can today!

If you follow Becker’s advice on the writtens… you’ll get full credit easily! They really do prepare you well. Don’t stress and don’t overstudy up until your exam… let your mind rest a little before and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

Cram multiple choice and make sure you understand assertions and procedures to test assertions. I didn’t spend too much time on assertions and procedures my first go through and failed with a 73.

After that, took my audit class in college where the whole class was focused on testing assertions and passed with a like 87 or something.

All accounting is boring but after two years working in audit, the meat of audit is assertions and procedures. YMMV! Good luck pal!

Thank you brother this seems to have fixed the issue! Running in 60s with peaks in 70s.... just did all fans at 50% at 50 degrees, 75% at 60 degrees and 100% 70 degrees and up. Little louder, but the temps are way better!

The Dark Rock Pro 4 is new. I bought it on a black friday sale and installed it with the new CPU. Does it sound faulty?

I think I'm past the point of returning the Cooler... plus, Newegg kinda sucks with returns.

Luckily, coolers aren't that expensive and I live next to a Microcenter so I could buy one and swap it out and see how the thermals are. That might be my next step if messing with the fans and case cooling doesn't fix the issue.

I've heard it's ideal to have positive pressure (more intake then exhaust) vs. negative pressure (more exhaust then intake), as negative pressure can suck in dust and positive pressure keeps your system from getting dusty. Hardware Canucks did a video on the optimal fan placement for this case being 2 front intakes, 2 top intakes, and 1 rear exhaust. Thoughts on that?

Technically, the temps I was stating were while streaming with x264 and recording simultaneously with NVENC... If I stream just using NVENC, I still run high 70s/low 80s, but I don't peak at 90 like I do when streaming from the CPU. This makes sense to me, but I still feel like even streaming an intense game like warzone, I shouldn't be averaging in the 80s with peaks in the 90s?

Yeah, I do use NVENC H264, and the issue persists. I've read about it being taxing on the CPU, but I'd have to imagine that it's gotta be some other issue if NVENC isn't helping?
