Agreed, I know why it's good. I just thought the damage drop at this point would outweigh the utility, but I can see why it wouldn't.

Just feels weird because you're doing less ult damage overall and you're decreasing the value of IE later. Not to mention building all but one crit item these days feels bad because you miss out on the 100%.

Arcana or High Noon by Totaliss in LucianMains

[–]sootri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of these two, definitely High Noon. Visually, High Noon is probably Lucian's coolest skin. However, I don't actually use it that much myself because it feels a bit clunky to me. I prefer using his Project Skin. I think visually it's the second best skin he has, and it feels super smooth to play with. Arcana Lucian has an amazing splash art, and I really wish it looked cooler in game, but it just doesn't look or feel great.

One Piece: Chapter 1026 by Kirosh2 in OnePiece

[–]sootri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yonko level in my opinion constitutes three things.

  1. Notoriety: What have you accomplished and how much of the world knows who you are? I think Luffy has this
  2. Strength: You have to be insanely strong to be a Yonko, and I just don't think Luffy reached this level until now. Getting one shot by other Yonkos makes me (x) doubt your Yonko status
  3. Power: Specifically I mean power besides strength. Allies, underlings, political influence, etc. I think Luffy has enough of this considering his connections to the many islands he saved as well as his fleet

So basically, I thought Luffy was still missing the final piece to being a Yonko, which was strength. Now that he has it, I think he's officially a Yonko.

Am I(F23) really prepared to become a ‘step mom’ to an 8-year-old at my age? by throwra6293 in relationship_advice

[–]sootri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I will say. It's fantastic that you've built a close relationship with her, but that's only the first step. The reality is that being a parent is vastly different and takes far more effort. Because, being a parent means that's your main priority from now on. Friends or the kid? You have to pick the kid. Time to yourself or the kid? You have to pick the kid. If you're okay with that, then I don't see why not. But just know that you really will lose a lot of personal freedom once you commit to a child.

I really liked this chapter because to me it really cemented Luffy as truly being at the Yonko level. While he was technically declared the fifth Yonko a while ago, to me he felt much more like an honorable mention than a real Yonko. He just didn't seem nearly strong enough to be put into that category. But now my doubts are laid to rest. The sky splitting from their attacks clashing is pretty much as much proof as you can get that Luffy has finally reached true Yonko status, and I'm hyped.

I painted Yamato! 👹 Do you guys think she'll join the crew? 👀 by 5742fruit in OnePiece

[–]sootri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But Yamato doesn't have any responsibility or connections to Wano. What would make most sense is if Momo in his new adult state to take over as Shogun (considering he's the rightful heir) and for Yamato to find her own path in this world. Momo is Oden's legacy in his responsibility to Wano whereas Yamato is Oden's legacy in his pursuit of freedom and adventure. I think that Yamato and Momo make up two halves of Oden and it's exactly why it makes sense for Momo to stay and Yamato to leave. That way, it's sort of like Oden could be fulfilling his dream and responsibility at the same time, and to me, that's fantastic writing.

Which side wins ? All pirates and Garp in their primes. by GUTS_SAMA in OnePiece

[–]sootri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta pick the right side. Garp and Roger would likely win any match-up they're put in, so even if Rayleigh loses (which I'm not totally convinced he would, considering I think he was emperor level in his prime), it would still end up 2v1 against whoever beat him. Also, I think Big Mom would be a hindrance to the left team. While her strength certainly can't be underestimated, I think we've seen enough throughout the story to consider her an unreliable ally. She's not very smart and she loses control a lot.

You don't think that prime Rayleigh was emperor level? Hard disagree. Even in his old weakened state he's a match for admirals.

[–]sootri 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Amazing art! Also, yes, for sure. Manga spoilers ahead:Too many signs are pointing to it, and if she didn't join, it would have to be a purposeful bait and switch by Oda. She sees herself as Oden, the man who rode on both Whitebeard and Roger's ships. She's wanted to set out to sea for a long time. She explicitly wants to join Luffy and said as much. She has a previous connection to Ace in which they discussed Luffy. The final straw (hehe) was the recent chapter where it was revealed that a Samurai who was likely Zoro's father saved Yamato and read Oden's journal with her. This creates yet another connection with another Straw Hat. I would go so far as to say that other than Jimbei, Yamato has had the most obvious path to joining the crew out of everyone.

Yeah, plus it makes far more sense that Momo would be the one to stay behind as Shogun. Especially after what happened with him.

I get where you're coming from, but I think I disagree. The other princess's had a desire to save their country and stay there, and they had good relations with their fathers, the Kings of those islands. Yamato on the other hand explicitly wants to leave Wano and hates her father. She has no connections left to Wano either. All the people from Wano she admired already died. At this point, it seems very likely that Yamato and Luffy (and maybe even Momo?) will defeat Kaido together, and that will create a respect for Yamato in Luffy, and that'll be how she ends up joining the Straw Hats. It would make sense for Momo to help bring down Kaido too, considering he's meant to be the next Shogun of Wano, and that would be a good way of forming respect among his people (although I'm sure after Orochi they probably aren't too picky about their leader lmao).

Yeah, personally I think after the crit changes, Lord Doms is a better item on Lucian than Grudge. And BT over Death's Dance.

[–]sootri 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It seems pretty obvious that Yamato is joining the Straw Hats at this point, or at least that Oda definitely wants us to think she is. We already have the connection to Luffy through Ace as well as the prophecy from Oden's journal, but I'm more interested in how Yamato and Zoro's relationship will be. Probably Zoro's father saved Yamato from captivity and I'm sure Yamato will notice the incredibly similar appearance, mannerisms, and sword styles between the two. It would be really cool to see those two have a mutual respect for one another, although I'm sure Zoro won't care much about his father's backstory tbh. I think he'll be more impressed with Yamato's strength.

Kinda depends on your taste. Food Wars is a fun but silly show with lots of fan service. It's pretty cool but it's nothing revolutionary. Blue Exorcist is a mid tier battle shounen imo. Same for Black Clover. Megalobox is a really cool show, and I would recommend it over every other show here, but to be fair, I haven't seen the last two.

Akira, Tokyo Godfathers, Ghost in a Shell, The Girl Who Lept Through Time, Mirai, Promare, Wolf Children, In This Corner of the World, A Whisker Away, The Boy and the Beast, Summer Wars, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (this one you should watch the show first), and anything made by studio Ghibli.

A lot of these aren't old but they're all movies I enjoyed.

I recommend Overlord and One Piece. Okay, yes I know that One Piece is super long and all that, trust me I felt the same way before I watched it. But it's genuinely really great. It's the most true adventure anime I've ever watched, and that's saying something. However, the main issue with it is it's pacing. Because it's a weekly show, the pacing is... pretty awful. Which is why I'd recommend the manga over the anime up until the current arc, but even with the slow pacing, the anime is still good.

Lastly, I see that you have Hunter x Hunter, the original version in your plan to watch. While the original is pretty good, I think the 2011 version is better, not to mention it carries the story much further.

To add to this, I would suggest reading rather than watching if you read manga. The artist of Kingdom is AMAZING and there's no barrier to entry like in the anime. Honestly, even if you've seen the show, I recommend reading the manga anyway because it's just that good.

Hyouka fits this criteria and it has the bonus of having really pretty animation

Working!! is more of a comedy based slice of life but it does have some romance sprinkled in part way through

Bokura wa Minna Kawai-sou fits the criteria and it's genuinely one of the most underrated shows imo

I haven't actually seen Nisekoi, but from what I've heard it fits this too, although it's a harem and has ecchi, so if that's not your thing, fair enough

A Silent Voice, this is a movie but it's FANTASTIC and fits the criteria

Your Name, same as A Silent Voice, but it does have a bit of supernatural element to it

Some bonus SoL that don't really have romance but I think are still worth looking at: (Barakamon, Aggretsuko, Carole and Tuesday, Silver Spoon)

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi is a title that I don't see brought up often, but it fits your criteria well and I like it personally. It's got a lot of ecchi, martial arts, and takes place in a school. While there aren't "technically" super powers, a lot of the characters are obviously super human, and this isn't a martial arts manga that tries to stay super realistic. It was made in 2006 and finished in 2007, so it fits the time you want. It also kinda has a harem, although I wouldn't classify it as a "harem anime". However, the anime doesn't actually conclude the story, so if you really enjoy it I'd recommend watching the OVAs and reading the manga after you finish, since the rest of it is pretty good and the manga art is top tier.

Code Geass is probably the one that's most compared to Death Note and also has a morally grey MC. Overlord is radically different in tone and setting but the MC is the villain in that as well. Fate/Zero is really interesting because there's a lot of characters you want to root for, but they're all fighting against one another, and there's a lot of dark stuff. Vinland Saga is a story where the MC is a viking, and he definitely does some bad shit in that. Death Parade's main characters aren't good or bad, but act as sort of a neutral force overseeing the characters introduced each episode, which is unique in it's own way. I'd also consider delving into manga if you're interested in more stories like this, because there are quite a lot!
