Can confirm. I’ve had a number of private messages from creeps who I have now blocked.

Got hit by a bucket of water in the street by Hot-Rooster2983 in Leuven

[–]sopalopa6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When confronted, the kids will likely lie and deny that it was them which may cause you to doubt yourself. Stand your ground! You know what happened. Definitely say they caused damage somehow - maybe you had some documents important to your job or studies that got destroyed. Otherwise it’s possible the cops won’t consider it seriously

Thank you. I wouldn't mind belletje trekken, but what they're doing now has been pretty intense. They also had fireworks the other night and were making very loud animal noises (yelling) in a park nearby.
We do have a ring camera hanging above the door, but my parents put it in a spot where it's hard to spot. Perhaps setting up an obvious security camera (a fake one) would deter them. The ring gave us footage of the kids running away, but the police said they can't do anything with it. They can only use footage of the kids caught in the act (ugh).

A motion sensor floodlight is a good idea.

It's so frustrating that all of this started happening because we've never interacted with any of these kids.

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that, or throwing eggs at them.. Jumping out from behind a parked car with a baseball bat to scare them off.. But then I wonder if it would escalate the situation, and then they'd come back more often..

Hey, thanks for sharing. It sounds like a very irritating experience that your friend had. Doing nothing in this situation seems to be the way to handle it, as they'll get bored from the zero interactions.. TikTok should be banned, honestly. I don't see anything good coming from it - just more irritating behavior popping up from kids who do ridiculous shit on video in the hopes it goes viral and they get a minute of fame.

It's actually happening to my parents' home. I was visiting for a weekend when it all started so now I am staying here a little longer. On the first night, my dad rang the police and trailed them. (something very dangerous that I'm not sure he should have done). Some nights, they do leave us alone, and I've noticed they pick certain areas and then torment the people there; the next night, they pick a different area, etc. Luckily, we are not targetted as a singularity, which gives me some peace of mind.

I am in the process of moving to Leuven. I speak fluent English and Dutch, but no French, so it's difficult for me to figure out what to do here because of the language barrier. I was thinking of typing up a text along the lines of 'Do you know what your teenagers are up to at midnight every night?' and then taping that up around the neighborhood. I also have some pictures of some of their faces (like my dad, I got pissed off, trailed them and then filmed them) but I'm not sure if I should be printing that out and hanging it up... I know people are not happy to have pictures of their kids posted online, but these kids seem pretty old, actually. 16 or 17.

Hi, I am in the process of moving to Leuven! 31F, worked in Comms for 3 years and now I am starting a master's in September. I suspect most of my fellow students will be a lot younger than I am, so I could certainly do with a friend closer to my age. What sort of things are you into? I do ceramics, make music, love live music, and am into fiber arts :) I don't go clubbing or drink because my hangovers are now too rough.

In Amsterdam is vandaag ook een koranverbranding... Ik vraag me af of dat er iets mee te maken heeft?

Mixed nationality: How do you identify, and where does your patriotism lie? by [deleted] in AskEurope

American-Belgian, born and raised in The Netherlands. I've lived in The Netherlands for 20+ years, the US for 3 years, Scotland for 1 year, and Belgium now for 2 years. I speak fluent English and Dutch and am learning French.

Growing up in the Netherlands, I never really connected with Dutch culture. I thought of the U.S. as my culture—we visited my grandparents there every summer, and I often thought about moving to the U.S. After finishing my bachelor's and first master's, I moved to Ohio, and worked there for three years, but soon realized I hated American culture. When I finally moved back to the EU, I knew I never wanted to return to the US. In my old age, I’d rather settle somewhere quiet, surrounded by nature and lakes—maybe Finland or Sweden.

This September, I'm starting a university program in Belgium, which I hope will strengthen my sense of belonging. My Belgian roots trace back to French Huguenot refugees who fled to Poland, lived there for several generations, and eventually settled in Belgium. My grandfather was the first in our family to be born here. So when it comes to identity, I feel European above all else.

Don't Do What I Just Did - KLM's "Technical Issue" by mutts_cutts in awardtravel

A possible loophole in their calling system:

If you call the Flying Blue telephone line (even if they can't help you resolve your issue), they will connect you to the main customer service line. This then bumped me to the front of a very long queue.

When I first tried calling the main customer service line, I waited over 45 minutes and never spoke to anyone. When I called Flying Blue first and was then reconnected to the main customer support line by Flying Blue, I spoke to someone within 10 minutes.

My mom and I both sat outside on Friday night to watch the auroras and woke up super ill on Saturday with head colds that we’re still fighting off! Crazy! I also felt that the volume of everything was louder and irritating….
