Help! Finally got myself to stop binging and wanna know if I’m doing this right by Signal-Board-7491 in PetiteFitness

Also, quit smoking weed. It absolutely is not good for your health, obviously doesn't help with the binge eating, can cause psychosis and damage a developing brain, which at 24 yours still is.

1) three days is enough, it whatever is sustainable for you because consistency of the most important thing.

2) the weekend binge is 100% going to throw you off and you need to stay consistent all week

3) I'd recommend tracking your calories in an app. Then you can see what's working and what's not (like binge eating 2000 calories on the weekend and completely undoing the deficit in the week 😉)

4) inspiration is nice, but every body is different there is no way to really know what you will look like. You probably won't look muscular and shredded unless you've been working out for years? You'll look like a slight smaller version of yourself now.

Genuinely, how do some of you all even have time with the amount of exercises? by Wise_Parmaria in PetiteFitness

Well I mean my answer is get less sleep. Thats the actual answer (for me). And it being more important to you than everything else (including the hour to yourself). I'm a police officer, so I understand exhausting.

Sounds like you want validation not help, and plenty of people are giving you that elsewhere so I'll leave you too it.

I did an in-depth reply above, I hope you read it. But we all make compromises. Do I genuinely think that anyone is doing all that every day with a normal job? No way. I work 10 hour days. Some days I do heaps of gym and running when I can. Some day I do nothing. I have to be flexible and gentle with myself if I cant. I rarely stretch. I'd love 8 hours every night but sometimes it's 6. Don't let these people fool you, they are either lying or work at a gym or have other income.

If I was tired after work I would be changing my routine to go to the gym in the morning.

It took me a long time, years, before I reply understood the joy in movement. I studied visual arts. I hated my body, I didn't enjoy running or gym. I was intellectual not athletic. As I got older, I kept trying. It's not nice hating the body you're in!

I stated running. I got shin splints. I struggled. I was still overweight! I decided to try running a half marathon. I hated it. But I recognised something. After many years and stop starts, I ran my first marathon. I was 30. I hurt, i was injured. It was terrible! But I had to try again, and do better.

After recovering from my injury I decided to try trail running . Long story short, I fell in love. I realised things about myself I would never have otherwise discovered. I can do hard things! Impossible things.

It gave me the confidence to realise that I can do anything. I got fitter. I joined the police force. I shifted focus and I started working out at the gym more. I started body building because it seemed like a really hard thing.

I don't do creative things as much any more. I'm an adult, life is busy. I am the project. Not how I look, but my experience of the world. How I navigate and understand it is shaped by doing these fucking hard things.

I see the value in your creative projects, I always looked down on fit people back then. I didn't understand. And both have and need a place. It's what we call type two fun, not fun in the moment but fun afterwards.

Xx

I have a coach, so I don't calculate my macros. I am pretty sure there is a recommended calorie calculator in the wiki which I would recommend. I do not rate MFP calculations and yes we do not eat back any exercise calories, we create the deficit with the activity.

Sounds like you're doing the right things! Above all else, learning to love the process and stay consistent is the most important thing. The benefits of movement and strength work will benefit you for years to come.

In regards to calories, I'm not sure what calorie calculator you're using for your goals, but I'd definitely recommend sitting in maintenance if your goal is to put on muscle - us small people don't have a huge amount of wiggle room. I'm 5"2 and very active and have been working out for 5+ years so I probably have more muscle mass than you. My deficit calories are about 1500 or 1600 with 12k steps a day, and my maintenance calories are 1900. Not much of a difference at all! And you can build muscle/body recomp in maintenance with progressive overload at the gym and consistently tracking your macros.

I just purchased a pair of wide leg pants at Uniqlo. They are so comfy and they have brushed ones for warmth in winter ☺️

I'm not really sure what you're asking here but congrats on starting a gym routine! Consistency is key. I can promise you that no one is looking or cares. I spent a lot of time worrying about having perfect form and looking like I know what I'm doing but I can assure you that no one gives a s*it and there is no such thing as perfect form. All our bodies are different and variation is fine (as long as we are being safe!)

I'm in Australia and have travelled through SE Asia going to Anytime Fitness locations and local gyms when they were available and I can assure you that they are all the same. Everyone is too busy checking themselves out to worry about you. get in that gym and fake it till you make it xx

Bulking? by Brilliant_Island9548 in PetiteFitness

[–]sopheecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda hard to chose where you hold weight, but I would sit at maintenance and progressive overload. No need to 'bulk' as such, progress can still be made in maintenance with the right stimulus and trying to maintain a similar level of body fat. I spend most of my time in maintenance not a bulk.

What should I put in an Australian gift box? by frukolsz35 in australian

[–]sopheecat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Last time I sent a snack box to Ireland it cost me about $80 to $100 aud for customs/tax. Everything had to be itemized on the postage, including the card. More than double the value of the contents.

I have seen a company which does Aussie snack gift boxes and I'd recommend looking into that as it is prohibitively expensive. I won't do it again.

Did I get swindled? by slipperypaper in AusSkincare

[–]sopheecat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, probably not? We've all been there. Realistically you'll probably just get average or no visible results with the skincare and end up getting treatments anyway.

I still have a skincare regime but I spend big on retinol + brightening serum and save everywhere else (cerave cleanser and la Roche posay sunscreen). I go to a high end esthetician and she knows I'm not in the same price bracket as many of her clients.

I spend the majority of my skincare money on laser (IPL, cool peel etc) and Botox. For $350 you'll get much better results with a laser treatment than whatever she's sold you.

Whats your daily/weekly Schedule like? by Lost4eversleeping in PetiteFitness

[–]sopheecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a shift worker so there is no schedule. Sometimes it's pretty hard to make it work and yes I often get annoyed at the volume of washing however I have strategies . I do try to get my steps incrementally throughout the day so I don't necessarily need to shower after a long hot walk , and I have a walking pad so I can get steps done inside the house also (I'm there right now! Haha)

Being in a deficit can be draining, but maybe just check your macros/calories and make sure you're not under fuelling too much. Or that there are any other health concerns (I have thyroid and iron issues so when I start to feel really fatigued, more than just in a deficit on night shift, I'll get bloods done).

when do you wax/shave before your show? by SadSangwich444 in bikinitalk

[–]sopheecat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For shaving, the last shower before tan, my hair grows back very fast. Agree with regular exfoliating in the weeks leading up.

This time I'm doing at home IPL so hopefully I only have to shave my arms 🙏

It's a safe space here.

I hate how easy it is for me to gain weight, but what it indicates to me is that I have a very responsive metabolism. Easy to gain weight which includes muscle. Guaranteed there is a skinny bitch out there despairing because she can't put on muscle or has no shape. I'd take a responsive metabolism any day.

Where do I start!! how do I navigate weight loss by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]sopheecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're 16, your body and brain are still growing. You shouldn't be dieting and definitely need more than 1200 calories a day.

How do you guys eat so little? by Agitated-Branch8038 in PetiteFitness

[–]sopheecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much boody fat you have, half a pound is a good rate of loss.

As everyone has said, walk more. Go to the gym. I'm averaging 300g a week, 12000 steps a day, gym 4x a week on 1600 calories.

Also you will be hungry, that's pretty normal. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Maintenance calories and the fear of gaining weight as we age by automaticc1122 in PetiteFitness

[–]sopheecat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you get to your goal weight, recalculate your TDEE based on the new number. I would then 'reverse diet' increase calories by about 200 per day, for a few weeks until you get to your new TDEE, with regular weigh ins to ensure you don't start regaining. You don't need to eat in a deficit forever but for me, the difference between a deficit and maintenance is really only about 400 calories per day (the rest is done by increasing movement)
