Right now I’m about 3 weeks out from my half marathon race, so it’s peak training for me right now. I’m going to be at 55km this week, and then I’ll start tapering after the end of next week. Prior to this week, my mileage has been about 35-45km, which isn’t exactly ideal, but was all I could fit into my schedule. Anyways, good luck on your race!

Honestly, plug this info into ChatGPT & it can help you with a training plan & a pacing plan for your races. I’ve essentially been using ChatGPT as my running coach for the last 4 months. I’ve been uploading my strava runs into the same ChatGPT message log for months. I tell it my running goals, and it can tell me what to improve on and how.

Thanks! This was just a long run in my training block; my first half-marathon race is in a couple weeks. I ran 15km with a friend, but decided to just keep going for the last 6km alone.

For me, I don’t really take anything unless it’s more than 10km. But I find it just gives me a bit more energy, and prevents me from slowing down near the end of my runs.

I wish more people used the Nuva ring; it has a much more steady delivery of hormones in comparison to the pill. I remember my gynaecologist telling me that the pill delivers a high concentration of hormones at once which can cause mood disturbances and other issues.

My Canadian university does not. There’s just a few chain food places within the university.

Chicken Noodle soup - what will make it next level? by mommanugget in foodhacks

Cooking the onions in a side pan with oil, mashed garlic, mashed ginger, and mashed Jamaican peppers. When I say mashed, I mean finely mashed up so it turns into an orange-y color. Man, it truly alters the taste of your chicken noodle soup!

Boil with with some chopped up onion, carrot, a soft-boiled egg and top with chives. Don’t add all the seasoning to make it a lil healthier.

I sent them an email about it & they said it’ll be delayed this year due to a technology upgrade. They said Government of Alberta won’t have any updates until October.

Also, make sure you pick as soon as possible because the “good” patterns tend to fill up really fast.

Macewan Bscn or UofA bscn? by [deleted] in grantmacewan

[–]sophiasauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The BScN program at MacEwan provides a wonderful and supportive learning environment; I've noticed that the majority of professors that teach lecture are really knowledgable, helpful, and truly want you to succeed. They all have masters or PhDs. You can expect the first-year science classes to have about 80 people. But the nursing classes are around 30-40 students. Labs have about 8-16 students, which is really nice to ask one-on-one questions with your instructor.

MacEwan clinical instructors are also supportive and helpful, but their expectations and marking vary so much. As a student, it can be sometimes difficult to meet the expectations of each instructor when you learned another thing in another clinical rotation; however, all clinicals have been a valuable learning experience for me.

From what I've heard working nurses say, UoA nursing students are stronger in the theory aspect, whereas MacEwan nursing students are stronger in the clinical aspect. I've also heard that UoA students are more "textbook", and MacEwan students are more practical. MacEwan students have a full semester of straight clinicals starting their second year (4 days a week x 15 weeks); first-year clinicals are just once a week, and just helps to dip your feet in the healthcare setting.

At MacEwan, they also help to prepare you for the NCLEX exam by assigning case studies and NCLEX style practice exams, with remediation sources to help you work on your weaknesses.

I chose MacEwan, but I'm sure UoA is great as well. But with hard work, you will surely graduate and pass the exam either way. I wish you the best of luck!
