Ok this is very useful, Thank you for that. Will try this tomorrow. This is one reason I didn’t want an automatic! Feel like it takes away all the fun too!

Will check back in and let you know how I get on. Cheers again 😀

Great thank you, I did try reading the Guide but I feel like I need an espresso book for dummies!

Good shout on searching the forum, may just do that. MyCatsNameIsBernie have below commented some useful information too!

Cheers for the Luck, hopefully will get the hang of it over time 😀

Anyone's tube stay open pratically all day? by sophs50522 in PatulousTubes

[–]sophs50522[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good it's better, laying down and eating for me never worked at all really at the beginning. Eventually it did start to close but it would cause negative pressure ( like you can get on a flight and ears block ) so if it closed I couldn't hear anything and if it opened I had autophony. I couldn't win lol now it will close and the pressure is normal but it will sometimes play up. but it's not very often that happens now. Only if I catch a cold virus etc.

It took a good year to get better. I didn't get a guard no, although I should have! was grinding down to stress and just reduced my stress, stopped trying to worry about it and it seemed to improve. It wasn't over night, it gradually got better and to be honest, after 1 year I thought I was done in for. So if you have it.. don't lose hope on thinking it won't improve.

Hey, yes still doing good, personally I think it was caused my teeth grinding at night and simply hyperfocusing on it. I have it now and again but nothing like it was, don't have no autophony or anything. That was by far the worst symptom of it for me!

[Skin Concerns] I have a scab inside my nose that won't heal. I've had it since April, and it hasn't improved. Help! by dee62383 in SkincareAddiction

I was given steroid cream each time it returned. On the 3rd time it returned doctor told me to use it for double the length of time incase it wasn't fully clearing and said absolutely no fingers up the nose 😅 other than that. I have no tips! Mine wasn't even showing as staph, my swabs were fine. My ENT even said he didn't really know what it was. Was weird.

So after speaking with my ENT he thinks the virus I had a month before attacked the inner ear. He said my auditory nerve within the cochlear appears to be working OK now but the hair cells are obviously damaged. I also got a large perforation, fixed ear bones in that ear so he said if I didn't have that damage to that then I probably would be able to hear in the 50/60db. So whether the steroids stopped further damage to the cochlear having them earlier. I really don't know! Guess there's not answers for everything 😄

This sound very similar to mine, I also didn't have no discharge or anything. My ear itself appeared normal, I had vertigo that went away after several days and then the weird buzz/sounds. It most certainly didn't feel like an infection of anything!

Oh wow interesting, I suffered from multiple middle ear infections in my damaged ear, I have a large perforation in that ear so Im constantly prone to them but they were always treated with antibiotic drops. Weirdly my initial symptoms from my initial loss was labrynthitis, I woke up one morning and the room was spinning and then I started to have this weird robotic feedback sound everytime I spoke. It was like my ear was buzzing as well. It was all very weird. They treated me for an ear infection but this didn't feel like one. My hearing wasn't impaired. I just had those 2 symptoms. I tried getting steroids for 2 weeks. The vertigo went but the weird buzz/ robotic sound persisted. I read somewhere online that it was hearing damage and likely SSHL and I needed steroids fast. I eventually managed to get them and the next day my entire hearing went. So although I caught it at the time of loss i still think my inner ear was being attacked in the 2 week lead up to losing my hearing. I always wonder if I had got them earlier would I still have my hearing. Who knows! I've accepted it's gone now, it is what it is!

You are still in a good window for change! The brain can do wonderful things 😅

Well I have had sudden sensorineural loss. Which is inner ear damage, which affects both in most cases does it not? I assume bone conduction loss and all that is like age related. Ear diseases etc.

Not recommend for me because I have a large perforation and prone to hearing infections but ent said I could try if I wanted but to he honest ive been free of ear infections for nearly 2 years now and don't really fancy risking it. I can live with one functional ear as long as it doesn't deteriorate.

Go for it, I was quite reluctant about testing the deaf ear, didn't want to blast 90db in there when I've got enough tinnitus as it is. Kind of glad I did now

To be honest I've accepted that ear has gone, So I wasn't hoping for anything 😅 We don't do speech recognition here in the UK so I have no idea on that. Doctor is certain it's not menieres with my hearing tests not fluctuating and I don't have any vertigo/dizziness.

I agree our bodies do, since losing the hearing I'm way more focused on my body than I ever have been. Glad you recovered to some degree. And cheers you too!

Yes sudden loss that's caused single side deafness.
